Default OEM Center Caps

I got some very nice mono block forged wheels to replace my crappy OEMs. I like the look, but I'm not keen on the caps that came with them, and the OEMs are very loose.
Any good advice on how to modify the OEMs to fit better so I don't lose them but am still able to remove them without damage when need be?

Just guessing here - wrap electrical tape around the outer circumference of the mounting tabs, effectively increasing the diameter to give it more grip?

I considered that, but I'm worried that it could work loose or just not hold well at higher speeds and then I'll be grumpy cause I lost a cap.
If folks have done it and it's holding well for them I'd be game to give it a try, but so far the only advise I've gotten was, "Try 2 drops of latex caulk and let it sit over night. Easy to remove. I tried tape and lost 2 OEM center caps."

Just looking for a few more opinions on different options before I pull the trigger.

RTV silicone sealant. I've used it in the past. You'll have to remove the wheel off the car to remove the centercap once you've already used the sealant, but not too difficult.

Good idea. I've used silicone in any number of situations; it's an excellent solution for many adhesion problems.

Probably the only time you'd need to remove the caps is when you're having new tires mounted and balanced.

It should work fine, it has for me, as long as the fitment is close (you're not making up for some 3 millimeter all-around gap), and you don't overdo it with the rtv.

You beat me to it. I have been using this method for years on my 2000 Deville center caps. Works like a dream and I can pop off the center caps any time I want to get to the lugs.

Don't worry about it. After you put the tape around them they will be really snug and won't budge. I have drove my Deville all over especially at highway speeds for years and never came close to one falling off. Here is one of my center caps using the application, works like a charm.

I have used the electrical tape recommendation on a number centercaps and it has held just fine.

Tried 3 layers of duct tape, it was still too loose. There's a pretty large difference between the way the OEM caps attach and how these attach.

Looks like the OEMs come apart. Maybe I can build something that will fit correctly.

Yes, the OEM caps (and some others) disassemble, as you see. I've done so a number of times to assemble my own caps to suit me, most often with my online "name."
