#15 on 17 GS. I pulled mine. Still not loud enough for me. I'm thinking about going after market. Can't decide which exhaust to go with. I like loud and aggressive.

Ya know, you can wail on that gas pedal a lot more often if the exhaust doesn't wake up everyone in the county.

Engine bay fuse box:
For the 2014, it is fuse 41.
For the 2015 - 2018 it is fuse 42.
For the 2019 - it is fuse 87

I have the M2W. I can run it with the NPP open or closed with a push of the visor buttons. It starts open when I start the car. If I don't touch the right button on the visor, it stays open. Press the right button and the NPP closes. If I want to reopen the NPP, I just press the left button and it's back open. I can open/close it without leaving the driver's seat.

Well - this is my first post- and the best way to kick it off here would be by asking a silly question, right?

So... How do I know if I have NPP exhaust? If I'm able to access Engine sound management in the setting screen? Does that mean I have NPP?

Also... Jesus.. These exhaust systems are expensive.

Welcome! If your exhaust tips are bell shaped you have NPP exhaust. Also there is a spid label under the carpet in the right rear that shows all the RPO codes for your car. It will have NPP on that sticker if you have it.

Also look in the 2 outside pipes and if so equipped you will see a butterfly valve about 6” in.

Yes they are bell shaped at the end, flared if you will. You have NPP!

thank you!!

I currently have the engine sound management set to track.
will there be a difference in sound if I pull the 42 fuse under the hood?
or is the track mode the same as valves being open all the time?

No, the NPP and the stock tips are different. The NPP are bell shaped.

The NPP exhaust in track mode is designed to meet all FEDERAL sound standards. The federal test is a drive-by at speeds of up to 35 mph in the tallest gears that can be used at that speed. Even in track mode, the NPP valves close partially at speeds below about 36-37 mph in certain gears in order to meet this standard.
Pulling the fuse defeats the valves and they remain wide open at all times.

Another vote for the AWE Touring exhaust.

I have a Z06 that came with NPP's. Added the CAI, Added the Borla Xpipe...and it increased the sound, but it still had a muffled sound to it.
When I put on the AWE's it came to life with a much cleaner deeper sound. It sounds crazy when you get on it, but really quiets down at slow speeds or in upper gears.

With NPP's (+ CAI and Xpipe)

After AWE Touring

That's mine in the lower right corner at 9 seconds into this video.

From my experience, just pulling the fuse a little and I mean a little bit louder.
Fuse pulled with midpipe nice sound, even louder but I wanted more. Still tame IMO
Now I have midpipe and AWE track axle back and it’s LOUD. I love it but may be too much for some. Haven’t heard the touring in person so couldn’t say what that would sound like and if it would suit you. If pulling the fuse doesn’t do it for you and you don’t mind losing NPP then add aftermarket exhaust for sure.

out of curiosity does anyone have a picture of a non NPP tips? I had no idea there was a difference. And I can’t find a picture from Google.

Here’s a pic of the valves open when parked and the fuse pulled.

When I went to the dealer to look at mine the fuse was already pulled. Knew then it wasn’t going back in!

‘I just watched a YouTube video last week turn dial to Touring ….. then go into settings and change exhaust to track and then any time he had his car in Touring mode he would have track exhaust. He said you could also change steering to stay in track mode if you wanted.

Shady,

Yes, there is a great post that's been copied at least once that has photos of both exhaust types. I wish I could find it, but I wouldn't know where to begin. Ideally, someone who knows the photo will re-post for you.

If you want to clean up your exhaust tips, Mother's Mag Wheel Polish or Bar Keeper's Friend powdered cleanser will make them look like new.
