I designed a Custom Garmin Mount for my C7 and 3D printed it using PETG transparent filament. It is temporarily attached to the passenger console hand hold with common velcro straps and thereby is easily strapped in place when desired. A Garmin with a "ball mount" then just snaps on the ball post (just like the regular ball post for the Garmin bean bag mount) and the power plug is very conveniently located on the console. I have used it with a 4 inch Garmin and with a 6 inch Garmin. There is no conflict with either the cup holder or the manual gear lever. If anyone has a 3D printer and wants to print it, just email me and I'll send you the STL file.
Hello,
Several months ago you sent me the file to create your mount for my car.
A friend that is in engineering school has access to a printer and got one made. I just got to use it on a 2000 mile trip and it was way handier than on the dash! Our car has the onboard gps but I like the Garmin better. I use both since I can look at the weather enroute when the onboard system is programed.
I was able to take better advantage of the information on the screen since I could easily tap the access points. We have the M7 and it was no issue running the lever. Even though we had the smoked top in for this trip the reflectance from the interior was not an issue as it is on the dash. When installing the ball in the socket I found that the ball on the printed bracket was .025" smaller on the dia that the ball on the original bracket. I used a bit of epoxy to build it up and all was good.
Thank you for the innovative design and your willingness to share it.
The C-7 has 85k on the odo so it does get used and having the gps at my fingertips works great.
All best regards,
Ned

Great job on the mount.
Do you have a photo available with the Garmin unit mounted? Very interested to see the complete setup installed. Tks
