Strange A/C Problem

Never any A/C problems until today.
I had been doing some informal acceleration tests, 0-60 and 20-60. Using transmission in manual paddle shift mode.
A/C was off for all these tests, but turned on between tests and working normally.
On one 20-60 test, A/C off, I accidentally had the tranny in 1st instead of second. Almost immediately after I floored it, of course the engine went into the rev limiter, I got off the gas and upshifted to second. Engine ran fine after that. But a few minutes later I came to a stop, engine still running, and turned on the A/C (hot outside). The A/C was blow blowing hot air and continued to do that for about ten minutes. I shut the engine down for about 20 minutes and looked under the hood, nothing unusual. Restarted, A/C still blowing hot air. Drove for about 15 minutes and the A/C started blowing cold air like it should, and continued working fine for another 100 miles today.
Anyone know what's happening?
