Default Possible dumb tire question

So I recently got this’15 Z06 with less than 6k miles so I’m guessing factory tires, Mich pilot super sport, and still have plenty of tread but they spin so much easier than the’15 Z I had that had normal tread (all weather ?). Is there some advantage to these tires I’m not seeing?

If it's below about 50* traction will be compromised. If they are the original tires, they are old and probably need to be replaced. You can check the date of manufacture on the sidewall. It's a 4 digit code the first two digits are the week (1-52) and the last two are the year. If those are original tires they could be 7+ years old. If so, time for new shoes.

With the Z06, if you are thinking traction, I would go with the PSS. If you're looking for adequate traction and longer life, the all weathers are a good alternative.

Super Sports if you never drive in temps lower than 40. Or look into the newer A/S 4S.

However you plan on driving, definitely time to replace the tires if original.

If they are ORIGINAL, then they are too old for traction and will be slippery even if the temperatur is 100°.

New tire time.

If you have cold temps, you might want A/S Michelins. Better tread wear, still good traction, stops the slow speed wheel chatter. If you are going to track the car, then get the OEM sticky summer tires.

As others have said, you probably need new tires. I replaced the OEM tires on my 2016 Stingray last year with Michelin AS4 ZP tires and am pleased with them. They offer all weather traction and eliminate the Ackerman effect.

I did the same as you. HUGE improvement with the AS4 ZPs.
