I'm looking to purchase a dash cam for my 19GS. Any help or experience or what not to buy would be helpful. I hope I'm not opening a can of worms, but I Would like to know if any of them have a security/parked feature that also would record while the car is parked. Thanks for any/all help. Prices paid or where to buy also helpful
This is rhetorical, but when will an OEM option or feature be available providing a USB port near the rear view mirror or at the top of the windshield? No, I could, but do not want to muck with the mirror wiring myself.
I have a couple Blackvue cams as well. The Dashcam Store is a great source and they have lots of resources on the site (no connection, just a happy customer). I went with 2-channel Blackvue DR900 cameras in both my vehicles. (2-channel is 2 cameras - front and rear facing.) My Vette is a vert, so I attached the rear facing camera near my rear view mirror. Not ideal, but I do get something of a rear view. Wiring the rear cam in a coupe would be much trickier, but I've seen some write-ups here on how to do it. View would be much better closer to the back, but I could not figure out a good way to do it.

If one is mechanically inclined enough to change the oil they can do the wire tap. I don’t see GM adding anything there. Still amazed they took the key latch out of the trunk.
I installed the Blackvue front and rear dashcam some time ago, model number DR770X-2CH-LTE. I am not suggesting that Blackvue is the best, but I selected Blackvue due to its low profile. It does support parking mode per your requirements. I also added the optional BlackVue B-130X Ultra Battery Pack to my installation for extended parking mode. THE Battery Pack is attached to the carpeting with velcro.
I got OEM-looking dashcam front and back. The front is fantastic because it fits in flush and you would never know it was there. The back one not quite so much but with the rear window tint, at least it isn't noticeable from outside!

Sounds good. Which dashcam product did you install? Manufacturer and model? Thanks
A $59 one will do the job --- recording what the OTHER guy did or didn't do. I've owned over a dozen dashcams, from expensive to bargain basement, and TBH they're all "about the same." I wouldn't be surprised if 90% of them all use the same chipset since the menus are almost identical.
Some Tips.
In a crash situation, simply pull the cord out of the cigarette lighter socket, unplug it. It will save that file. You can't remember what buttons to press, especially if you're in shock or injured. Its designed
to save the last 30 seconds if power is lost.
Turn off G-monitoring or rough roads/potholes may disable recording when you need it most!
Turn ON audio recording and speak the license plate of the guy who hit you. Even at 1080P / 4K the video might NOT be good enough to read his/her plate! Speak it out loud!
After an accident do not reveal to the other driver you had a dashcam recording it all -- save the video for the police or your attorney! Let him/her dig their own grave lying!
Plan on a low cost unit like this lasting 2 -3 years. the internal battery or supercapacitor fails, especially if left on baking on a hot windshield. Get the extended warranty.
Carry the user manual in yer glovebox.
If you want to be really, really vigilant, pretend you had an accident and take it home and recover the video to your PC.
Cheap insurance -- because ANY dashcam, even an inexpensive one is better than NO dashcam when the bozo ahead of you CAUSES the accident - and then tries to blame you!
Dashcam may not show him swerving into YOUR lane, but it will prove you didn't swerve out of YOURS!
In the high $ units --- turn off the GPS! You don't want that data being used against you in court --- the fact that you were speeding even if the other guy was at fault! "contributory!"

Dashcams should have been MANDATED OEM equipment in passenger cars 5 years ago!
I had PPF installed on the front of my car after purchase. I believe that PPF should have been mandated OEM install. Which body of authority should mandate the equipment?
