Default Interior Black Plastic Scratch Remover

I believe due to the seat belt end piece, I have developed some light scratching on black plastic. Is there any product that will repair or hide the scratches?

Assuming the scratches aren;t paint/plastic transfer or just scuff marks that can be removed with 50% rubbing alcohol, not joking but the tip of the flame from a small hand torch will melt/blend in the light scratches.

An old restoration technique is to use Kiwi Black Liquid Scuff Cover. It works really well. With a light scuff, one application. Heavier scuffs, let dry between applications. I used it to mask some where in the Center Console and plastic parts of the car.

The black Kiwi Leather Dye works very well on leather seats.

I used both extensively when bringing my 1995 C4 to Top Flight condition.

Good luck!

Is that stuff just for leather? Or can you use it on the black plastic trim? Thanks

The website says its for leather. But I cant see how it would damage plastic. I would definitely test it in an inconspicuous place first.

Adam's new plastic trim restorer. It's the best! Ive tried a lot of these types of product and this one is the leader of the pack. It fixed the scuffs on that speaker grille on the bottom part of the door where it gets kicked and scuffed, as well as where the seat belt buckles scratch and mar the plastic. It doesn't directly say for interior, but it works like a charm.

When, you are having your car judged at a National Corvette Restorers Society Judging Meet, the Judges score your vette for originality, they also can give you tips on possible restoration techniques.

I had a 1995 Corvette Roadster, with 84,000+ miles on it. You could see the brown leather starting to show through the driver side bolster, the leather was dry (especially, near the stitching), and the Shifter Console had a few scratches from use.

I used the leather dye on both seats, rubbed Johnson Baby Oil into the seats, starting at the stitching, until it stopped soaking in, let it sit overnight, and wiped off the excess with a Microfiber Cloth. That trick was taught to me by an Auto Upholster, who took the shop over from his Dad. C4 Upholstery had no plastic protectant on the seats.

The other cover, I used on the seat backs and the Shifter Console. I received a 97.7 % raw score for originality at an NCRS Regional Judging Meet a long time ago. .

I received no deduction points for the seats or Console. I have suggested this approach many times and seen the results at another Meet. Use them sparingly and carefully. jmho.

A method I have used is SEM 70022 Interior Graining Pads and heating lightly. The trick is finding the correct grain to imprint to blend scratch away.. as stated light heat can help, but too much with create shiny areas, and plastic can melt and burn if you go to far obviously Practice on something similar before attempting it on your parts. Using a decent heat gun with controllable temperature is a must for accurate results
