Hello I’m looking for a great maybe not top of list book. I’m buying one for an owner of a 59 and 19 stingray. He’s been into Vettes his whole life. I’m looking for a book to give him. I’m sure he’s read anything common. Does anyone have a recommendation for a good, but rare book related to vettes or American cars?
Story mostly how the C5 happened without GM supporting the program at first.
I found the book interesting in the politics, manufacturing, design, and all the considerations needed to bring forth a new design.
To me, the C5 & C6 was not a fully supported program by GM. It seems the C7 was pushed to be a great car and now the C8.
GM was run by 'bean-counters' and now many engineers are in management positions and push to have style, technology, and performance.

I love “All Covettes are Red”! The C5, in my opinion, is the first of the modern Corvettes and its development was a tortured tale of corporate BS that offers real insight into the demented new vehicle development process at GM. A great read for any fan of the Corvette.
