I was wondering if a heat reflective tint on the windshield would help with the 3LT dash problem? I don't have the problem...YET, but was thinking of a little preventative measure that might stop it.
ceramic tints dramatically lower interior temperatures and direct heat. it can only help, except for the application process which will get your dash pretty wet.
highly recommend a 50% ceramic tint on the windshield. illegal in most states, but it's barely noticeable from the outside of the car. makes a massive difference without creating a liability at night.

Have had 3M ceramic film on interior of windshield and side windows for 9 years. I live in desert SW and you can not believe the difference. Worth every penny!
I had really good luck with Huper Optik transparent ceramic film on the windshield of my Yukon. I also had tint legal tint all the way around. It made a huge difference I have a different brand on the Vette, Stek. I honestly don't think it rejects as much heat as the Huper Optik did. I had the same guy that did my clear bra do the tint at the same time and that's the brand he uses for both.
All that said the problem is more around shrinkage which all leather will do to a degree and glue failure. There is a video of a member redoing his C6 and he shows just how little glue GM uses. I believe he uses the good ole 3M adhesive to do the fix.

I would imagine that extreme heat would have an impact on the 3LT leather that is used, specifically the adhesive used to keep it in place, but surely some of the problems have occurred in locales that are more temperate. That said, I would think that the tint would help, as long as you do not get into trouble due to state law.
I had Ceramic tint installed in both my 2014 coupe that I traded in for my 2014 Convertible. The Coupe was toasted and the dash cracked before I installed the tint, the tint was the best way I found to keep the dash from cracking and peeling away.. In my convertible I have also installed the dash mat.. It looks ok, I like the actual dash look WAY more but I know for a fact it is protected and will not destroy itself now... Most just use the reflective mat in the window but I know me and after a few times using one I will stop using it.. The Tint is always there..
Here is the funny part, We are all doing this to mitigate a defect in manufacturing from GM that they will not take responsibility for nor pay to have replaced knowing they are at fault. Also, all this is done for the next buyer and resale value and that just sucks for all of us.
This is the tint I went with on all my cars now, IR 70 is the sweet spot and you can hardly tell.. The UV light sensor on the dash will tell and it will drive you crazzy at first as it turns your lights on and dims the displays whenever the sun is not shining directly on it. > https://www.johnsonwindowfilms.com/a...cts/insulatir/
