Default 2017 dash with 3LT package

Went to look at a 2017 C7 with 3LT package today. Went to take it for a test ride and the dash cover was destroyed. They said that the had a new dash cover on order but the part is on back order and they have no idea when they will get the part. Is this a common issue with 3LT package?

Yes, very comman on the 3LT. I would get it in writing if they are promising a new dash when the parts come it. Good luck!

Wow one of the worse I have seen! Also looks like the console cover and door panels may be an issue too. Some 3LT's are fine and some are not.

I concur with @CorvetteMike2004. Several forum members have posted about similar problems with their 3LT dashboard. The dealer stated that they have a new dash cover on order, and you get a promise from the dealer in writing to replace it when it eventually arrives. What if the back-order is finally filled two years later. Is that acceptable? What if the back-order remains in limbo for an indefinite period of time?

I had looked at a 3LT that was in the beginning stages of doing this: just bubbling in a couple of places.
Selling dealer was not going to fix it.
I found a very good local upholstery shop that said they remove the dash, remove all the old leather, sand off the old glue, re-bond new leather, and re-install for $2200.00
I did not think that was crazy expensive given what needs to be done but I ended up passing on the car.

How long is the back order? I'd pass on this. The interior looks rough.

They said it is a national back order with no definite lead time. I walked away, the whole car was in pretty rough shape. Don't think I am going to look at 3LT's after this experience.

I think you made a good decision to walk away. Look at cars with the 2LT package - haven’t really heard of them having the delamination problem with the leather.

I concur with @Vetteman Jack . Look for a C7 with a 2LT package. The 2LT package includes many convenience features. The 3LT includes built-in navigation but the 2LT does not. But you will not miss navigation with a 2LT because you can use Google Map on the Android Auto or Apple CarPlay

The 2014 and 2015 C7s did not include Android Auto / Apple CarPlay. The early model 2016 C7 required only a software update but no hardware upgrade to get Android Auto / Apple CarPlay working on the 2016 year model. For sure the 2017 and later models included Android Auto / Apple CarPlay.

Yikes... I wouldn't buy that unless you have it in writing they're going to fix it and you still love the car regardless of that dash.

You don't want to spend $9k to have it fixed.

Take this car off your list, the interior is bad all round, plenty of great Corvette's out there so why take the risk.

Thanks all for the advice. I am signing paperwork today on a 2016 2LT. Will post up when I get it.

The fact that they allowed the car to be presented like this, with other options to fix it available leaves me considering your decision wise and correct
