Looks like I hit something with my front drivers side tire. Quite the bulge. Luckily I have the tire and rim warranty (breaking even on the purchase of that with this tire replacement + the rim replacement I had a couple months ago).
The rear tires have plenty of tread left and are Michelin AS3+. The new front tires are AS4's. I am guessing this setup will be fine for normal street driving.
When replacing the front tire, it looks like the warranty will only pay for the damaged one. However, my understanding is that they have to be replaced in pairs for safety and performance reasons.
So basically, I am looking to find out if there is a way to convince the warranty company the should pay for both
I am also pretty surprised the wheel survived this hit!
Remember that sometimes wheel cracks aren't visible until the tire is removed, but yeah no obvious external wheel damage, they just need cleaning
Can I ask what wheel and tire warranty you have, how much it cost and for how long. I just got quoted $749 wheel and tire cover (not covering cosmetic damage) for 5 years via GM dealer which seems like a great deal that I will probably take up.
If the tires on the front are new you may be able to work with Michelin on getting them to replace both rather than the tire and wheel warranty. Just a thought.
I bought my Vette at a Lexus dealer and they are the ones I purchased my wheel and tire warranty through.
I am actually getting two repaired on Tuesday from where a Firestone scratched my wheels up installing some A/S 4's

I got a GM Tire and Wheel warranty when I bought the care used a few year ago. It is a 2017 GS and had approx. 18k miles when I bought it. Price was $1,017 for 5 years so expires 5/2025. At this point I think I am close to break even, or possible ahead. If you can get it for $749 it is a no-brainer to me.
1 tire with install/balance/etc was approx. $400 for Michelin AS4's. So I am out the $400 for the other front tire. I kept the rears because there is plenty of tread left, but they are Michelin AS3+'s. Driving it home it felt fine.
The passenger rear wheel was replaced due to a crack a couple months ago but the invoice only had a $0 amount on it so I don't know what it cost. I think its safe to assume $600 so I feel like I am at break even now on the warranty with just under 2yrs left of warranty.
Once the warranty expires, and if there is a subsequent wheel issue, I'll be purchasing Forged Rims...
And yes, the wheel is certainly dirty in that pic! LOL
The tire warranty will replace the one damaged tire, but not both fronts. Depending on how many miles on the front tires, I suggest you replace the other one too, if you have approx 10K + on them already. Also, check both wheels for cracks (see pics) due to the impact (inner rim is where the cracks develop. You may have to replace both, if cracked, under the warranty. Good luck.
It's crazy how many run flats have blow outs. I know most of us have them but I have never seen members with non run flats have tire issues. Just my thoughts.
