My coupe is really loud from road noise in the cargo area with Cowboy insulation and Blockit. Just had it checked mechanically nothing wrong. Rear tires have some cupping on the inside which tech says is causing noise.
I'm thinking a vert would be quieter since the cargo area is mostly blocked. My C5 vert I even added a small flap hanging down from the waterfall over the opening to the back
My vert is quiet (from road noise). I'm considering making the switch to a coupe though, for the added cargo room (and going from a GS to a Z06). I have heard from local club members that went from a very to a coupe and they said the noise level was pretty drastic.

I prefer coupes and have owned a 69 Corvette convertible and and an 87 convertible. The coupes have been a 97, 98, 2005, and the 2014. I put a new top on the 87 and it was very costly. They are brand new to start with and get faded and show wear after a while. The coupes stay just as nice as the paint. I have two tops for my 14, a transparent roof and a body colored roof. I prefer the transparent top. Everybody has different choices and both are good but as far as noise is concerned. Automatic tops can be expensive to repair if you have problems however some Corvette owners have problems with creaking, popping, and rattling targa tops. It's a tough decision and convertible are more rare and difficult to find than coupes.
I prefer the coupe for safety and cargo room. However it is noisier. I had the Cowboy extreme package installed including insulation on top of the inner wheel wells. It helped quite a bit, but it is what it is.
You might want to try switching tires. An alignment with a little less negative camber would probably help whatever you get stay quieter longer.
I agree with TxLefty. I installed the Cowboy extreme insulation in my 19 GS coupe and found it made a big difference in interior noise and heat transfer. I just installed new Michelin 4, all-season ZP tires (had 42K on my previous Michelins with plenty of tread left) on my Forgeline VX1S wheels, and was amazed with the reduction in road noise. The previous Michlins were a bit noisy, but since it happened over time I did not realize it. So, new tires may help a lot.
Vert vs. coupe - I have had verts and found them to be noisier than my coupes, especially when being passed by another vehicle. I love my coupes and will not have another vert. Good luck.
Agree with the alignment advice. If you don't track and would like to try an all-season tire, the Michelin A/S 4 ZP is much quieter than the original Super Sports on our `19 GS convertible.
Can't help with the coupe vs vert question - we have had convertibles since 1998, but I will say that the C7 convertible is quieter than any of the previous generations.
Which one? Hmm? 🤔 I think it depends mostly on how you intend to use the vehicle. I love the top down driving experience of a convertible around town and on country backroads, but find the experience excruciating on the interstates. Top up is fine then IMO. I’ve had both a coupe and a convertible, and top up, I think the convertible may be a little quieter. But on the interstates, we are usually on a vacation or trip of some sort and frequently in need of more luggage space. So having only one of the two presents a dilemma. 🤷🏼♂️ If you have another vehicle such as a roomy sedan or SUV, then I’d opt for the convertible. But if the Vette is to be your ONLY vehicle, I’d opt for the coupe. Of course, if it’s within the budget, one of each variety would also serve the purpose nicely. 🤣 Good luck with your decision.
I went from a C5 coupe to a C7 coupe and found the road noise dropped substantially. With the windows closed and the top on, I find the road noise is only slightly higher than our 2019 Cadillac.
Are the comments above about road noise referring to riding in a coupe with the roof off?
My 2019 GS vert is the quietest convertible I've EVER experienced. Even on the freeway (with windows up) it is easy to converse and not too windy. Storage is another issue entirely. If choosing a daily driver I would have to say the coupe wins, but if a weekend toy, you can't miss with a vert and it's waterfall. Actually surprising how much you can stuff in the trunk with the partition down.
The Convertible is quiet in a C7 and does not compare to previous generations. I was surprised how much quieter my C7 was when compared to my C6. The C4 was loud with the top up or down.
The top divider in the trunk helps and so does the dead space between the divider and the seats.
I was also surprised when I was on the Freeway, with the top down, and my Wife called. I rolled up the windows and we were able to hear each other. She did not realize I was on the Freeway.
In the HTC, it not only makes it quieter, you also do not see the engine when it gets dirty.
Do not worry about the top if you get black. It only fade if you do not take care of it. My black top with 84,000+ miles and and 25 years was show room black!

I’ll start this off by saying I really enjoy owning and driving my ‘14 Z51 M7 Vert (14k miles). I’ve had it for almost a year.
I sold an ‘07 Jag XKR Vert and bought the Vette, so that’s where I’m relating to.
The Vette is noisy and impossible to carry a conversation no matter what position the top is in due to road noise. It was easy to converse in the XKR, no matter the top position.
The Vette gets very hot once you park. You need to drive 15-20 miles at decent speed to create good heat removing airflow.
I have a Windrestrictor in the Vette and had an off branded factory copy wind blocker in the Jag. The Windrestrictor just does not do that much, especially given it’s cost or when compared to the Jag’s unit.
I have NOT added any insulation or heat blockers to the Vette. I’m on the fence about doing it.
I would not give up my Vette, but I do wish it had some changes to really elevate it. I don’t think it would have taken much to have made a C7 be really spectacular. As I like the M7 (even with the stock shifter- yes it could be better), I probably won’t consider swapping for a C8.
Just now closed a deal over the phone to trade for a 2019 vert torch red 3lt, will pick it up this afternoon only just over an hour away. Got it for my price. Tried 2 yrs ago to buy one like it. Former rental with 27k and new tires. HOORAY
