I know there are a ton of variables that go into a 0-60 but I was just wondering if there’s anything that could cause powerloss or if you guys have any suggestions JUST IN CASE. I’m not saying that’s why I’m getting a 5 second 0-60 I’ve only tried like twice but it got me thinking since I RECENTLY got my 2016 stingray and haven’t done a full blown inspection of it.
so basically my question is if there’s anything common in these cars that may cause powerloss that I should get checked? It’s dumb but just curious lol
Sorry but 99.99% of the time, the "power loss" is the driver mod. If it was down on power you'd see a check engine light, or feel a miss, or see poor fuel economy, or a variety of other symptoms. Best case you might have a dirty air filter that's hurting things. Other than that...meh. Just takes practice and you need to make sure the car is set up for it regarding traction control, use of launch control if equipped, etc.
that’s good to know, idk why that’s been a weird paranoia for me lol like I purchased one with less hp but yeah I’ve been learning launch control and I’ve just done 0-60 in horrible streets at stop signs🤣🤣

Sounds like a good way to meet your friendly neigborhood traffic cop or be involved in an accident.
Take it to a large parking lot of mall or something else that is empty or gone out of business. Stay safe, stay Frosty!
According to a timer, I'm pulling 4.1-4.5. Depends on your traction. The M7's are more difficult to get a consistent launch. Real world I'm not concerned with either 1/4 mile or 0-60.
I know if I drop a gear or 3, I'll be able to blow by most cars.
You need a nice smooth road surface. On normal road surfaces I get about 4 seconds. On new smooth road surfaces or at the tracks with smooth surfaces I get 3.1. And that is with A/S tires. Now those numbers are the best I have had. So it just depends on all the variables.
There are some pretty greasy roads where I live that will definitely get the traction control to kick in all they way through third (I have an M7). Tires, temps, driver technique all have a bearing on this and can probably account for +/- 1-2 seconds pretty easily. At a track under controlled conditions I can easily get sub 4 0-60. By my "seat of the pants" dyno on the street, not so much. Probably closer to 5+.
One more thing to keep in mind is that the throttle isn't linear, it's progressive. That means that the first 2/3 of travel maybe gets you to half throttle, with the rest coming on pretty abruptly as you continue to floor it. In an M7 it's entirely possible (when you're not used to this, and the car) that you are reaching for the next gear before even getting the throttles fully open, especially on the street.
Where do you live? Altitude can make a big difference, a naturally aspirated engine loses 3% of its
horsepower per 1000 ft. I figure I am about 60 horsepower short or more living at 4800 ft.
Do you use premium fuel? Regular grade gas will cause engine knock and the PCM will pull timing
causing a loss of power.
That time is about right for the street for a stingray. Pretty sure youre on some all season tires, only tried it twice, hp is only 460. Rear wheel drive lightweight vehicle isn't going to blast off the line on a dead hook on the highway, especially on street tires. The advertized numbers you read are optimal condtions, tires and surface. Not to mention someone who knows what they are doing.
