Hello Fellow Corvette Pilots! Question or opinion on bug gut removal. I own a 2014 C7 Z51 3LT. I just had the nose replaced after losing an argument with a Ford pickup with trailer hitch that backed into me. Anyway, the replacement and paint match were flawless. My dilemma is this. The body shop stated no harsh detergents or chemicals to wash the car, which makes since. But how do I remove bug guts from the front? I know a lot of products aren't good for fresh paint / clearcoats, so does anybody have a suggestion(s) on how to remove the bug guts without ruining the finish? Any help will be most appreciated, and thank you all. Corvette Road Trip to Utah
Thank You! My 3rd 'Vette and by far the best! My wife and I go on what we call "Corvette Road Trips" for 2 weeks a year. Sometimes solo, and sometimes with our local Corvette Club. This trip was from the East Rim of the Grand Canyon to Flagstaff. Beautiful country and scenery.

Use a brand name car wash and follow their mix directions. If bugs remain, a brand name bug remover should not cause paint damage to cured paint.
Think about all the junk on the road that the car in front of you is kicking up and you pass through. That is a very harsh environment compared to tested cleaning products.

^ this. But, I would think that a good detailing product (like Adam's Polishes Detailing Spray which is what I use), would work well to get the bug remains off the paint without damaging anything. Of course, use a good microfiber towel.
Florida love bugs are by far the worst on clear coat. I found that soaking a towel and leaving it on the nose helps to soften them up. Warm water is even better.

For Love Bugs, hydrogen peroxide works about the best, if the bugs are fresh, not so much once they are baked on but still works.
+1 on warm/hot water. As hot as you can stand it . They come right off without issue. I use this technique on PPF and non PPF equipped cars. Beautiful car !
Synthetic based detail spray only. Nothing with petroleum based detail spray. But I have used microfiber towels soaked in hot water. Lay them on the problem areas a few minutes and it soften the bugs and then wipe them off with a distilled water soaked cloth. Works for me with no damage to a touched up painted area.
Try Griot's Garage Speed Shine. It's the only product I use besides washing. It sprays on and wipes off clean and smooth. They won't tell me the recipe, but confirmed it's great for my PPF covered front end/mirrors. I found it's that good for everything.
The paint and clear coat are not any different than another GM car, truck or SUV of the same color. I just use Meguire's quick detailer and a micro fiber towel for bugs. I do have the PPF on the front however it works on my other vehicles as well. Keep it waxed or use a ceramic coating and the bugs don't stick very well.
