Default 2014 Base model, Help and advice please

Hi Guys, i have a 2014 base with 16k on it. A short while back I noticed a slight vibration sound only when i accelerate. It doesn't do it all the time. Mostly at speeds between 20 to 40 mph.
I took it in to my local Chevy dealer........ They say i need a new "serpentine belt tensioner and new belt" and also a "driveline support and updated flexplate" cost 7K

My question, anyone else had this issue? Common? ideas and thoughts please. Thanks

First i would like to thank all of you guys that offered your thoughts on my issue. I DID LISTEN. I took the car to a reputable repair shop that is managed by a family friend. The GM dealer quoted $7000. The repair shop quoted $4400 (if everything quoted needed replacement) . It turns out that the torque tube was not the problem. They did replace..........GM drive belt tensioner assembly........GM serpentine drive belt. Final cost, $421.53

i drove the car around 100 miles with no noise!!!!!!! ONCE AGAIN, THANKS TO ALL OF YOU!!!!!

I would get a 2nd opinion and price estimate. Sounds like they are talking torque tube. If its the torque tube that can be very expensive. Good luck.

2014 had the A6. Not common to have torque tube failure but a possibility. Go to another shop.

Thanks guys, yes, he did call it a torque tube. He also said it is pretty labor intensive ( 2 days). I have never had any major work done at a dealer before so i am not not sure if i should just let them do it or let a repair shop give me their opinion and quote? $7000, ouch!!!!

I almost always get three estimates whether cars or life in general (contractors). $7K seems very high.

Be careful on who you have do the torque tube. If not done properly it can wipe out your motor in a few thousand miles. Make sure to ask if they have did this type of work before.

Do the belt and tensioner first. If you cannot do it yourself, get a neighbor/friend who's proficient with a tool set. Hope that does it.

Tensioner and belt replacement is an easy, inexpensive job, which, if it fixes your problem, saves you from replacing a torque tube.

I agree - tackle the lesser of the potential problem areas first - the tensioner and belt replacement. Then if not solved, go to another dealer and have them give you a diagnosis - and perhaps a third repair shop if need be. $7K is a lot of money - seems high to me but I’ve never had to pull something like a torque tube if that is what it turns out to be.

Although the belt and tensioner replacement is a fairly easy job, the symptoms you describe sound like the beginning of torque tube failure. The 2014's are not immune to it. As Corvette Mike said, ensure the shop has a trained tech that knows the procedure for install. If the clearance to the rear main bearing isn't correct you will in all likely hood end up replacing the engine.

Mine is 2014 Z51 6AT. Actually a rubber coupling exploded inside the tube and entire assembly was replaced some years ago. I remember it was around $3K.
