Default Short throw shifter

Hello all,

considering a short throw shifter and had a few questions:

1) has anyone been able to get a stock / close to stock look in the interior with this mod? Most of the ones I’ve seen make the interior look modded

2) which would you recommend?

3) any issues / drawbacks? How hard was the install?

thanks all!

I just installed a MGW shifter in my 2016. I ordered the assembly with the option to install the stock shift ****. The appearance looks the same. Maybe a very slight height (lower) change, but doubt anyone else would even notice it.

Most of the ones you see are the MGW with the flat shifter handles and aftermarket *****. This set-up is very popular and definitely lets everyone know you've changed your shifter assembly. But there is no performance difference between the two styles.

I just preferred the stock look.

I am at work, but I will try to post a picture this evening.

This is the 3rd MGW shifter I've installed (past 99 and 04Z). As long as you have some reasonable mechanical skills, and follow the excellent YouTube videos that are available, the installation is not difficult at all.

WELL WORTH the time and effort!!

MGW offers a stock looking shifter that you can use the original shifter **** with. Looks factory and is on my list of things to do this winter

Here is a quick snap of stock C7 ****, with a MGW shifter. I am missing the shift boot collar as it did not come with the new? used boot i just got. But one is on the way & connects to stock **** like normal. As you can see, you can't tell the MGW is under there, but it shifts 100 X better.

Thanks! Exactly what I’m looking for. Which one did you buy? On the MGW website it doesn’t seem like there’s an obvious option for stock vs non-stock appearance package. Is there a link you can share?

MGW Aftermarket Racing Shifters (mgwshifters.com)

The Shifter with lower box is the same for C5-C6-C7 cars.
Then in the drop down box for shift **** application select C7 K ***.

Add to cart, that's all you need.

The other shift **** applications just change the upper part of the **** so you can thread a ball on, or a C6 ****, or a C7 for example. If you click on the first 3 pics you can see same shifter with 3 different uppers. a threaded one allows you to use other ***** if you want. The C7Z I just bought had the short "Gripper ball" and handle on it and I hated it. Hince the new/used factory ****, and boot that I installed missing the ring. ha

This is my MGW. As others have said, there is little difference other than slightly in height.

Here is a screen capture of the main page for the C7 MGW shifter. To get the stock look shifter just chose "C7 ****" option in the Shift **** Application box, add to your cart, and checkout!. All other options below this are for alternative MGW shift *****.
(NOTE: You might be able to get a 5% discount if you use MGWPATRIOT as a discount code when checking out.)

I've owned six and added an MGW (well my excellent mechanic, Mark @ Titus-Will in Olympia, WA) with stock *****.
Th only visible change is it sits a half inch lower or so than stock. I almost didn't do it on my C7 as the stock linkage is the best I've had, from C5, C6 and my current C7 but......

I echo the recommendations for MGW. Install is easily done from the driver's seat, with no need to lift the car or go under it. The only "specialized" tools required were for removing interior trim pieces.

Unless you go flat stick with an aftermarket ****, appearance is very close to stock...

Forgot to mention, I haven't seen these go on sale in years. The best deal I found was directly from MGW, using Coupon code MGWPATRIOT, to get 5% off, which amounts roughly to free shipping. Good luck!

I initially had the same thought, keep it stock. However, ended up with the flat stick and can not be happier.

did you order the stock C7 shirt throw from MGW and change the shift ****? Or did you order the 9/16-18 threaded / C5 one?

the Flat stick is not the same as the one I link to you.

If you go with the flat stick its just the flat stick, you cant spin off the shaft, and change ***** like the other. Seen here you can tell the flat stick is part of the shifter base. vs a swappable handle for other *****
