Default OBD dashcam installation
Thinking about getting a Garmin dash cam mini 2. Anyone tried powering their dashcam via OBD? Did you have to remove any interior trim pieces to tuck in the wires?

Sorry cant help. Curious what added value there is in having it connected to the OBD?

It could be a faster installation process as you won't have to wire tap the mirror.

I would just run to the front fuse box if you are trying to tuck wires.

Is there switched and unswitched power on that OBD connector. I do see there is 4A of power but no whether its switched or not. Does that dashcam take unswitched power for monitoring while parked?

There is a switch, it could either:
1. Automatically turn off before depleting the battery
OR
2. Turn off dash cam when the car is turned off

Thats in the camera, right? I'm wondering whether the power at the OBD port is direct BAT or ACC switched.
