I would like to add a little bass to my '14 Z51 &MT 1 LT Conv. And I would like the least invasive option which might be something like a slim 8 - 10" powered sub to go under a seat or even in the trunk. If anyone has done one, can leads be hooked up to/spliced to one of the existing speaker's wires? And then I would just need to run power and ground. I'm not looking for 12 inch BOOM, just a little more bass. Your experiences/ideas would be much appreciated.
Yup one of those 10" powered subs from Kicker or Rockford Fosgate will do it ,if you want to add a little bit more bass. All you need to do is run a power and ground the battery in the trunk and tap into the front woofers all of which will conveniently be in the trunk.
I agree with JL if the budget allows. Rockford Fosgate would be my second option but there's many to chose from. I would recommend at least a 10 inch in the trunk. See link below.
Due to your input this maybe something even I could consider doing, much appreciated
I did this using the subthump harness it's super easy don't have to cut one wire. Plug the subthump adapter in and connect the bare wire pigtail from the adapter to the amp. Wire the sub to the battery conveniently located in the back and you have a powered sub. Only thing I would tell you is if your amp doesn't have speaker-level inputs you need to buy one or add . I bought this amp and it is all you need the speaker signal is converted by the amp itself. Any amp with speaker-level inputs will work.
I put mine under the carpet where all the other electronics are. I bought some USB powered fans and ran them to the USB port under the arm rest. So when the car starts the fans turn on. One is located under the amp the other is pulling air from under the carpet. I put it behind the vents right under the rear hatch. I did this because prolonged running of the amp was causing thermal shutdown when really hot out (I'm in FL). Prolonged was hours not running to the store etc. you may not need fans. I also listen to my music loud so every bit of my amp is getting used. I'm the guy you hate sitting next to at a traffic light.
The red outline is where I put my amp so size is a factor. I used a JBL stadium 1000 watt amp.

Thanks for taking the time to answer! That’s smart!
I also thought about this sub. I have a Lloyds mat in the trunk like you do.
Did you trim your mat for the sub to fit? My understanding is that it goes in the cubby in the corner.
I have this Stealth Box as well. Lloyds mat too. I cut the mat to match the opening for the cubby. The Stealth Box...it has a large section the protrudes down under the woofer. That's what goes IN to the cubby. No issues storing the targa top.
My amp is installed where the factory sub was. I put an LC2i unit where the other guy here put his amp. The LC2i takes the Bose logic out of the "base roll off". Meaning, when you currently want to crank the volume, Bose will begin to reduce the base output.
The placement of MY amp is great as far as being out of the way, but it's a bit of a pain in the *** to access when you want to adjust and tune it. I have to remove the rear panel to access the amp controls. I have a J/L Audio 500/1-D. That amp and sub is WAY more than the C7 cabin needs. LOL. I have mine dialed back. Never a worry about overheating or blowing the sub. Base control ****...I had mine installed where the cig lighter was. Looks stock.
