With all the new technology out there is there an economic option for converting a 2014 C7 to offer Car Play without a $1000 full unit swap? Any help would be appreciated.
I'm no expert by any means, but if you're looking for something that will function like the factory system, I don't think you'll find it. I believe NavTool offers "a" way of getting Apple CarPlay, but it doesn't work like a factory system. I did the upgrade to my 2014 C7 back in 2016 for $895.00 and did the labor myself and to me it was worth every penny! Good luck!
Everytime I've considered this I've talked myself out of it because I realize that more than likely I would just be using it for GPS. It's only my opinion of course but I wouldn't want to spend 500-1000 dollars when I can use my phone on the Proclip connect via bluetooth and obtain the same functionality.
Maybe you guys can help me understand what all other features are great with Car Play that I'm missing.

For me it's just easier to access what ever you need with it displayed on a larger screen and not fumble with the phone's smaller screen. Sure, you can do all the phone and message stuff via Bluetooth, but it's just easier to do it via CarPlay, not to mention the map display is much easier to read with the bigger Infotainment screen.
