Received my first ever oil sample back from Blackstone and was very surprised to see that my sample was out of spec with regard to iron and silicon. I followed their suggestion to check my air cleaner and all associated equipment for an air leak and found none. My relatively new Wix air filter was clean, and all the air ducting on the engine side of the air filter was very clean as well. I put a bit of sealing grease on the mating edges of the air filter and put it all back together.
Anyone have any suggestions on anything else to check? I use the Mobil 1 Supercar oil and Wix WL-10290xp filter. I don't recall driving on any dusty roads. I do drive the car very few miles each year. Could a light coat of rust be forming on the cylinder walls between startups?
Any suggestions would be appreciated. Also, are the numbers something to be alarmed about in your opinion?
I think it would be prudent to buy a new filter, just in case the new Wix I have is faulty somehow.
Thanks for the suggestion and for showing your oil sample as well.

I used an AC Delco one. Not sure how that would influence things.
