Default Source for bolt?

Yesterday while changing the oil, I noticed that the four bolts at the trailing edge of the undercar pan were not in place. About a year and a half ago I removed that pan for cleaning, and I know I reinstalled the bolts. The only work since then that was 'farmed out' was for a water pump replacement at a Chevy dealer, and a wheel alignment at a local shop, so I'm guessing one of those two places has my bolts. Sort of the same situation @96GS#007 has detailed previously.

Anyway, it looks like the GM number is 11519376, spec listed as M6 x 1 x 23, and while I don't want to be overly **** about things, can any of you recommend a vendor that might have a matching fastener, but not at GMs matching price? I know I can check out Lowe's, Home Depot and local hardware chains, but I don't know that they'd have a match, and I'd like to stay close to OEM if possible.

TIA,
Larry

This website is a GM Parts supplier I've used before and their discounted price is $5.60 each.

https://www.gmpartsdirect.com/oem-pa...-bolt-11519376

I also found the site that sells them in packs of 5 for $9.98. But I know nothing about this company. And not all fasteners are created equal.

https://www.factoryoemparts.com/bolt...ly-mi-11519383

Personally, I wouldn't hesitate to pay the $5.60 for 4 OEM bolts since they are a "relatively" specialized fastener, and the website is trustworthy. And we are only talking about approx $25 w/ shipping. But that's just me.

Good luck!

Thanks, Mark; appreciate your info.

I personally have a strong internal objection for paying for an item with such outrageous price markup as shown on the gmparts site. Considering the volume they're bought at, I can't imagine how low the unit cost actually is.

The factoryoemparts price is more in line with Lowe's, etc, and I'd be willing to take a (small) risk with their product.

Thanks for the leads!

Bolts are the hard ones to find since many seem to be pretty unique to GM. Places like "Clips & Fasteners", Fastenal, Auveco, and McMaster-Carr carry a variety. It's often easier to call them vs searching their websites. Pro-Bolt USA may have something similar but their stuff is generally high-end....Titanium bolts, aluminum bolts, etc. A salvage yard is a possibility if you can convince them to look for them. Lastly, a local body shop often has stuff laying around and will sell it cheap.

I did find one place....Kent Automotive that sells a pack of 25: https://www.kent-automotive.com/kent...l-M6/P57099.ka You'll need to create an account for pricing. I'm not sure if they sell to the public.

Pleasant surprise, and pleasant outcome. While running some morning errands, on a whim, I stopped in to an O'Reilly store and found the almost exact double of what I needed. Two packs of two each for a total of $9.73. All installed, and good to go!

My apologies to some subsequent owner of this car if at some point in the future these non-stock bolts cause it to lose points at an NCRS judging meet.

Appreciate all your info.

I was in the process of looking up an old thread where someone had pointed me towards those same Dorman bolts!

Great that you were able to find the bolts at a decent price. Nice to know that auto parts stores may have the bolts in stock.

As suggested, once you know the size/threads, bolts from anywhere will do... and, you can buy an entire box for what GM typically charges for four. If not in a big hurry, I like McMaster-Carr.
