While out for a beautiful afternoon drive, I discovered a couple of things about the manual and auto modes. In manual, if I didn't downshift approaching a stop, the transmission would downshift for me. In auto, I could still use the paddles to shift either way. I know it must be written down but my eyes have glazed over reading the manual. I also found out that the screen cannot be moved while driving and has to be in park to operate it. I didn't use my AFM disabler today but I will test it out tomorrow with the V8/V4 readout in the Tour mode. I have watched a couple of videos on the instrument cluster but it is going to take a while to get really familiar with it. The information available on it is impressive. I love this car!

With the C7, the ability to configure the car to your driving style was greatly expanded. As you are finding out, this opens up a lot of possibilities for enjoying the C7 driving experience. You can learn a lot by using the search feature if you have a question, just ask the question in a thread, or spend time browsing through the owner’s manual as time permits. I came from the C5 generation and nearly five years after buying my C7, I am still learning about things that the C7 offers.
Just keep enjoying your car - you’ll learn something new every now and then that will make the ownership experience even better.
With the release of the C8, while an amazing car, IMO its no longer a corvette I finally got off my butt and bought my dream car. I searched the dealers and one had a new 2019 GS A8 2LT while I was looking for a red one ( the one they had was a Shadow Gray) I figured I would take the drive upstate to see it. Well it was love at first sight and still after almost 4 years of ownership I still love driving her and hand detailing her. Like other's said before, you'll always find out new ways to configure it. I advise you to stay active in this forum as you'll always find out any answers to your questions and learn tons of stuff. Enjoy you Corvette, lord knows, like every Corvette owner I love mine.
When I'm in Manual, as I slow down, the A6 drops down in the gears until it hits 2nd. It will not go into 1st unless I tap the down paddle and then it drops to first. If I go WOT, it tries to accelerate in the gear that I'm running. Say I'm in 4th, it'll try and accelerate in 4th and not do very well. A double tap of the paddle to drop to 2nd will get much better results. So, yes, I agree on the auto downshift down to 2nd.
I really like driving in manual mode, but I can sure attest to the fact that my gas mileage takes a hit. It sure is fun since this is my first automatic performance car aside from Buick Grand Nationals.
I didn't find this in the manual but on YouTube. If you want to play with the cluster etc, you can hold the start button down for ten seconds and the car will act like the engine is running. It's great in a garage where the fumes may be an issue.

True, but I wonder how much that is draining the battery?
A minute or two should be fine, 15 minutes maybe not.
A charger plugged in should help, but how much...
Another beautiful day here in GA so I took the car for a ride and tried out my new AFM disabler. It worked great and the little V8 icon stayed lit the whole time. I remove it every time I plan on not using the car for a few days. I was going to activate SiriusXM radio since I have it in my two other rides but decided to use a thumb drive behind the screen instead. With the top down and the exhaust rasp, it isn't worth it to pay for XM. I listened to Rocketman today going down the highway and I felt it was about me! I'm also getting better at using the cluster info and different modes. What a great car! I've flown several fighters in my time but this car makes me feel at home. Everything is at my fingertips and that is just like a fighter plane.
