Have dealer or competent shop "Clear Adapts"and perform a "Garage Relearn" procedure, then drive it like you stole it for the next 100 miles as the TCM relearns the correct timing and preasure it will take to perform a perfect upshift and downshift every time
During this period you might feel some sloppy shifts , that's normal
This is common problem with the some "Adaptive Learning" transmissions like the A6 and A8

It was definitely a charteristic of Mercedes-Benz automatic transmission automoblies in the "70s and '80s. The "jarring" hit was a sign of a well running Mercedes automatic transmission.
