Just bought a 2018 Black Stingray LTI manual transmission.
I noticed the previous owner put covers on the taillights that are adhered with double sided tape, apart from being made of cheap plastic, they are collecting dirt on the inside.
Any advice how to safely remove them without damaging the original taillights that are underneath?
I've not had to do what you're looking to do, but if I was, I'd start by using a hair dryer to see if that would soften the adhesive enough to make removal easy.
I don't know that I'd use a heat gun, as the higher temps might cause some deformation of the lenses/bezels.
Best of luck whatever you do; let us know what worked!
I agree with Catfish4818 ... hair dryer, not a heat gun. Those tail light blackouts are pretty deep, so I doubt that you could get fishing line or dental floss behind them.
I'm thinking about using a body trim removal tool to gently pry the edges while applying heat.
