While I did enjoy the ctsV3 it just wasn't as engaging as I like, but damn it's a cruise missle. The grand sport track bits and reliability won me over. I will definitely be tracking the car... In the mean time with less than 15k miles here's to hoping the wheels don't give up the ghost too soon.
Can I ask ... how was your buying experience with carmax?
Yes, I have bought and sold a few times to carmax. The main issue is they are typically above market value by 2-5k or more. In this case I found the avg price range for comps was 61-64k and I bought at 59k. Assuming best trade in condition, the vette would be 57.5k Which matches with Carmax's 2k premium. What is irrefutable is their warranty, which is the primary reason I bought with them. Their road side assistance is pretty good, and I have not yet run into any warranty issues with them. I file a claim and they take care of it, I can even take the car to first party dealer. Buying experience is sort of luke warm. Sales people wont know ANYTHING specific, nor will they care. There will be good and bad sales people anywhere and so you will get that with Carmax. The trick is to find one who is capable, but know there is no haggling, and the sales people cannot do much aside from the company process. Why it matters to find a capable sales person is so they can be an additional advocate for you should you have any issues. If they can corroborate you are "playing the game" and have run into issues they will be able to make things happen for you. It is best to just do all of your homework and have your paper work ready. Test drive the car you are looking at, CM doesn't care if you want to sit in the lot and mess with the in car settings (I did with my phone and all of the other personal vehicle settings) You can also request a longer than 20min test drive. I usually do because there is a specific route I test drive on. The sales person I used was the same my wife used when she bought her past 2 cars from CM, he has been there a while and so we have good rapport with him. In my case because I had all my ducks in a row, I was in and out in less than 1 hr when I went to purchase.
I can vouch for CarMax just like the OP did.
Although there is no haggling, I opted to always deal with Isabel. She has been with CarMax ever since they opened the Knoxville hub and she can get things done.
She works hard and has been able to get me refunds on transfer fees when cars I called in were not to my liking. That alone was a peace of mind.
She has also advocated for some repairs under warranty that the company had assumed were part of the deal.
Yes I could have bought totally online and just picked up the car at the Express checkout, but having a good friend on the inside to put a little company scratch in their pocket helps a lot.
She has also been very patient. I have been searching since February. Called in several cars. Bought 2 and returned them and have finally found the one. She was with me all along the journey with no gripe.
