1000+ mile trip - no plate/ins - I'll pay to have it shipped IF things work out.....
Regarding insurance, most insurance companies cover newly purchased vehicles for 30 days without even having to call them. A phone call to your ins. co. will confirm.
I live in Colorado and have bought and driven cars back from Boston, Phoenix, Flagstaff, and Frisco, TX. One trip I did alone, two with my son, and one with my middle daughter. One way flight to each location. A lot of good memories from those trips.
All were from out of state private sales, so I paid sales tax when I registered the cars in my home state. One previous owner owned a Harley-Davidson dealership and had a warehouse full of beautiful Chevelle SS's. If you pay taxes out of state, you owe any difference to your home state (refund if your home state has lower taxes).
Two owners let me use their plates (Camaro ZL1 1LE and C7 Z06/Z07 M7) for my trip and I got temporary plates for the other two ('96 Impala SS and Charger R/T AWD). All were low mileage and in pristine condition.
My insurance company (USAA) covers a new vehicle for 30 days prior to being added to my policy.
Well, Mother Nature has made my mind up. With this cold (for Florida), damp weather... my body (arthritis) is letting me know that a Vette as a DD just isn't gonna happen any longer. I had a pretty good run of having one for about the last 30 years but sadly, it appears as though my reign is done. Getting in/out with these hips would turn into an issue. If anyone is interested, here's the link to the 2016 blue convertible with 7 spd manual.... $54k currently. It's at a dealer in Jersey just east of Philly.FINALLY found the perfect Corvette for me but won't be able to drive it.... So, I guess I will bid you all a final adu and wish you all the best...
LOL I did Maxp - that's what made the decision for me. He's right. Take care of your body 'cause it's a bummer when the SOB gives up the ghost on ya.
Your mind says, "hell ya!!! Let's do that!!!!" and then the reality of the body says "um..... excuse me.... I don't think so..." oh well, it is what it is. Paying for years of punishing it and now it's getting even with me... lol

Understand what you are going through and wish you the best!
I bought an infrared sauna and hot tub a few years back to help my wife out with pain management for her Lupus and RA. Added infrared and red light therapy to the sauna. They have provided pain relief for her and using them has helped me with my arthritis enough to be able to enjoy my cars again. Enough to where I bought my first 'vette (C7 Z06/Z07 M7 Coupe) last June. My wife will even go on local drives and events with me, but has ruled out any long distance events unless she flies out and meets me. She still rides with two of our children to their schools (one on the west coast and the other on the east coast) and back every year.
Based on our personal results and our vet's recommendation, I bought a handheld veterinarian grade infrared and red light unit for our two 11 year old dog's arthritis in November and am down to one session a week for them. Both are a lot more active, are running and playing with our younger dogs again, have lost weight while looking healthier, and we have had to increase their food amounts slightly to keep up with their new activity levels.
As a disclaimer, I am a soon to be retired engineer and have no connections to any of the companies / products that we are using. Just amazed with the results.
