Hi
Being back in the market once again l noticed that the drivers side bolster is worn which makes me crazy! Is anything new
that l can do myself to fix this. Most of the vettes l have seen have approx between 20 to 30,000 miles.
Seat covers would probably work if improved

I was surprised to find out the worn Bolster on my 3LT was vinyl. My Upholstery guy replaced it with a thicker piece of leather to help prevent wear. Four years later, it still looks new.

As stated you can do different things to fix depending on skill and cost. I had jet black competition seats and the leather was pretty robust. Problem? Me, I was getting into the car in a matter that continuously rubs that area. Many people do the same thing and even after the material is replaced find wear after only a few months. Rick Conti (YouTube ) addressed this in a video of how to get in and out of the car. I still have my old jet black seat covers and one day will get the wear area fixed in a shop. It was a great time for me to go to red interior from jet black (just waiting on driver's seat cushion from GM to complete, plus I replaced the dash - 3LT leather shrinkage). Don't go spending money to fix this until you learn the issue of cause. Cheers.
I'm a bigger guy so mine are worn with only 3K miles of use by me & 8500 by original owner. I was able to get factory replacement covers, once the seats really wear I'll replace them. But it will happen again. Part of the deal for me.
I strongly suggest finding a good upholsterer. I've have one for years who did several of my cars however I wanted, and with great success. All the best, in any event.
On my S2000, I repaired the bolster myself with leather filler and dye. The dye was kind of expensive, I think around $75, but it matched the red perfectly. It isn't difficult, you just have to have the guts to try it.
They are from Leatherseats.com. I took the seats out of a 2016 Z06 and had the new seat skins installed. The seats were supposed to be retrofitted into a C5 convertible, but the project went in a different direction. I plan to post them for sale in March with some wheels and other items once I clear out the shop.
