FWIW, the stock thermostat in my 16 Z was set at 186*. Worked great but got switched out during a dealership coolant flush to 195*. Tried to get another 186* from Chevy, but my dealer ordered a few different part numbers and we couldn't find one in that specification. So I ended up with a 174* Katech. It works like champ. All normal colors/readouts on the dash.
I have a 2014. The stock thermostat is 214*. It doesn't over heat, it comes up to operating temp and stays there at 20*F and at 100*F. The engine needs to be at correct operating temp. To low is just as bad at to high.

My 2014 is same although I have not driven it at lower temps….
Ok UPDATE: I have not changed the thermostat yet. But today on the highway the temp gauge below the fuel gauge went to zero. However the readout of the engine temperature was still reading a lowish temperature. When I stopped to eat the cooling fans were running full blast. Luckily I was able to get them to shut off. Once I started the car again both engine temperature gauges were at ZERO and the fans were running at full speed. Maybe this is why the engine was running so cool. It now is running in the 190 range.
I plugged in my scan tool and there were two codes p0119 and p0128. I cleared the codes and not everything seems to be working correctly. I don't know what to think.
Any Advice?
