Default Dumb Question about Engine Part

I have my coil covers removed and am wondering what that round cap/cover is on the driver's side in between the two front coils.
TIA, and sorry for my ignorance.

The only way you'd be dumb or ignorant is if you didn't ask your question.

That would be the oil fill for the non-Dry Sump engines. GM used the same valve covers for both.

Thanks, Highplains … you’re too kind.

And thank you Shawn for your quick response. That makes perfect sense.
I should have stated in my post that this is a Grand Sport with the dry sump

^ This. Nothing wrong with asking the question.

Be aware that on a dry sump car, that cap is fixed in place via a locking tab. If you attempt to remove the cap by twisting, you'll break the tab and have it rattling around the top of the cylinder head. It takes a LOT of force to do this......but some very determined members have done this in the past and then regretted it.

Wet sump Stingray owners recognized that immediately, but I did't know it was there and permanently locked in place on Z-51 and up.

Sorry, DoubleG, I should have done an advanced search. I did Google it, but that was to no avail.

Thanks for replying, DoubleG. I don’t feel so ignorant about it now!
(Ignorance is just not being informed or educated about topic or item, as juxtaposing to stupidity)!
