Default Rear Hatch release with remote

I'm having trouble opening the rear hatch on my 2016 coupe. The remote will pop it open slightly and then it will auto close itself. The hatch pops open fine with the interior release button. Anyone ever experience this issue?

What's the condition of the hatch struts? When mine were getting weak, mine wouldn't pop up intermittently. ...and more frequent in cold temps.

All 3 electric releases should work the same (dash button, button by the license plate, and fob). Hold the fob button longer? Maybe lubricate the hatch weather strip?

Struts and the spring in the latch mechanism are also possible, but I would try the weatherstrip first.

I would go with the cheapest possible fix first, try changing the FOB Battery.

I would try the button above the rear license plate to open the hatch....what happens, I would also try the other fob....what happens?
As others stated above, try a new fob battery and hold the button down longer.

Lube the weatherstrip.....a quick and easy first step.

With the other two releases working fine, sounds like something with the fob is the problem. Maybe a weak signal?

Thank you for all the replies. I lubed the weather striping and replaced the FOB battery. One or a combination of both of these remedies fixed my problem. Thanks again!

Also don't forget to make sure your key also opens the trunk.

It will also open easier if the windows are cracked open a little. Thats not always possible, but if you're inside and press the open button, have a door open first before pushing the release button.

Once in a while mine will do this also. It never does it if I remember to hold the fob button down longer.
