Default Carbo Tech 1521 Post Install Question

Installed the 1521's and noticed what you see in the pics. New pads have been on for 300 miles, rotors were not turned, but very smooth, and have about 45k on them from the original pads. I thought initially it was because the pads needed some time to match the surface area of the rotors, but I am not sure now since the rust looking area is about the same on each front rotor. What are your thoughts?

I have Carbotech 1521's on my Grand Sport and they cover the entire surface of the rotor evenly - just like the factory pads. It sure looks like you got pads from a defective run that has a consistent void in the compound. I'd contact the seller and show them the pics. Carbotech will make good on that.

I'd remove the pads and inspect them. Look for what above post mentions. Do you still have the stock pads to compare them to?

I would remove the pads and give them a light scuff with a fine grit sand paper on a flat surface.

I've gone through a couple sets of Carbotech 1521 on my '16 Z51 and never seen a problem like yours.
Seems unlikely but it almost looks like you got the wrong size pad.
should be: CT1001-1521 fronts and CT1718-1521 rears.

Emailed Mike earlier today. Adam sold the business, hopefully the customer service is equally as good. New contact info:Mike Puskar Jr.

No longer have the old pads or box, receipt says CT1001. I asked Mike to do a warranty exchange, seems easy enough, we'll see.

A couple of years ago I had a set of 1521s made for my AP Racing brakes when driving on the street. When I received them the compound material was mounted incorrectly on the backing plate. I drove over to Carbotech and gave them a single pad of set of track compound Ferodo pads that were properly built. CT reset their tooling and a couple of days later called me to say they had made me another set of pads.
