I am going to pull the coolant out of my car and put it back in under vacuum. The car doesn’t have to be up to temp to do this and have the thermostat open does it?
The C7 is one of the easiest cars I have ever owned for changing the anti freeze. All you have to do is drain the radiator and refill it. I did this and didn't have any air locks or problems. The anti freeze that came out was new looking and I want to keep it that way. Unless it's really bad I wouldn't try anything else. I do have a Lisle product that you can use but I never needed it for my Corvette.
I have a Katech 160 thermostat and it seems to be sticky. I had the classics of a bad thermostat. I am taking it apart today and putting the stock one in. I just figured it may be a good tool to use to refill it.
You suck it out and and put a vacuum on the system. Then you let the vacuum pull fluid back into the system. That way you don’t have air bubbles.
How to you remove the coolant in the block and heater core? Do you plan on flushing out the old coolant and sediment? Seems like it would just be easier to do it the conventional way. Drain, refill with water, run the engine up to operating temp, repeat until the it runs clear. Refill with 1 gal of concentrated dexcool, top of with water to get the proper ratio. I use one of those gravity coolant funnels you can buy on Amazon for $20 to refill the system with out any air. I've never had any problems with trapped air.
Just fill it up. The air will bleed itself out. It was very easy with no special tools required. I changed the coolant when I had a bad thermostat that needed replacement.
I did not have to vacuum mine out.
Pretty sure the C7 self burps. I've changed the thermostat twice and have not had any issues at all even though I did not use a vacuum tool.
