Default Remote Key-programming Question

I found instructions on here to program another key fob to my car. I dont imagine the key needs programmed separately as really only works for the trunk. Can someone confirm you dont need to program the key itself out of the remote?

Anyone have any key fob source they recommend? I looked at Rock Auto and they only have a convertible key fob. Mine is a manual so the auto start isnt a thing. I just need the lock, unlock, rear window and alarm buttons.

Thanks

Only the FOB needs programmed. The dealer will cut the key for you or any key shop for that matter.
All key shops in my area would not cut my key because I did not buy the FOB from them,
The dealer charged me $25 to cut the key.

The last time I bought my car from Carvana, they hired a mobile key shop to come to my house and do it all. He used an aftermarket FOB.
The next C7 I bought, the FOB I sourced was OEM, thinking from Ebay. There is difference in quality and the Corvette flag on the back. The aftermarket unit is blank in the back. They both worked just fine.

This is the fob part number I used for my manual coupe. Get the genuine one.

Hey, I know you're in the Phoenix area - I used Locksmith of Gilbert for mine and recommend. He provided the fob, programmed my current key and the new key (locking out the missing key) and cut the key for the trunk. All in was about $280 and done in my driveway since he's mobile.

Try him at (480) 980-9308, see if he's still in the business

There are two ways to program the fob to the car. The car can store up to 8 fobs (I think) in memory. Only Fobs 1 and 2 (delivered with the car) can access all functions. The short programming method just adds the new fob as the next number in line and that could be 3 through 8. If you are adding this fob to get to two fobs then follow the long programming method shown in the OM and that will reprogram the car to recognize your two fobs as 1 and 2 and all other fobs will be erased from memory.
