I was looking at a 2023 Hellcat. Even rolling up in my C7, they wouldn't let me drive it. don't really blame them. Is your Hellcat a 6 spd or auto. I want a 6 spd. I could buy an older Hellcat and keep both, but I'm just wondering if they are that good.
Fun to drive I meant. I know they have problems hooking up. I'm assuming sticky tires would help. I know its a lot different than the Vette, I've never driven a Hellcat and I'm curious how they drive.
You tube is full of thugs in Mopars running from the cops & street take overs, I've seen exactly 1 video of a Corvette doing the same. Chargers & Challengers are being stolen at a ridiculous rate compared to Corvettes
Challengers have a stigma for sure. The only reason Hellcats are getting stolen, is because they are easy to steal.. Why not Corvette's and Camaro's? A lot of Corvette owners are going to look down on Challengers. Challengers are cool cars, my problems is I have a Jeep grand cherokee and I don't want 2 cars with the same interior. If I added one and kept the Vette, that would be ok, but I don't think I would want to replace a Hellcat with my Vette, I don't think I'd be happy.
I know this thread is about Corvettes and Hell Cats, but I did something similar. I went from a C6 to a 2019 Mustang GT and then to my present C7. The Mustang was the 8th Mustang I've owned in my lifetime and I thought I would like it. But after owning a C5 Z06. amd a C6 Corvette, The Mustang was a great car but I found it to feel bulky and heavy. I just couldn't get used to it. Very happy I switched back to Corvette.
The Hellcat I drove was insane. I did the 1/4 mile, 07 , I did an airport runway top speed, I did not feel safe....Clocking184 MPH was all I needed to say no. Getting Old.
Chevy and Ford seem to me, JIMHO, safer/solid/passenger friendly than a MOPAR. Hellcat has it's place, so does the Vette. Want to drive fast Get a Hellcat, want a safe/solid rocket car get a Vette.
Kind of off-topic, but it seems like EVERY Challenger/Charger wants to race, no matter if it is a base model or a Hellcat. I thought Mustangs and WRXs were bad until Challengers arrived.
We have two Corvettes and Two Hellcats, yes wife and I might be wired different but it is what it is. She splits her daily driving between a 2016 6-speed Hellcat and her 2008 13k mile Z06, if she had to sell one it sadly would be the Z06 as she feels safer in the Challenger as her previous 2015 Z51 was totaled a few years back by a red light driver. I split time pretty evenly on weekends between a 2019 Grand Sport we bought new and a 2018 Wide Body Hellcat. The wide body Challenger is much better driver for me than the wile's narrow body version as it at least for me handles that much better, that being said I still like the look of the original narrow body better. The sound and pull the Hellcats make is intoxicating.
Camaro's being stolen are a huge issue - just go read a little on the Gen 6 forums. I suppose it's only a matter of time for any keyless GM or otherwise. It used to be limited to mostly Mopars, but it's GMs now too.
Back to original question - as others have stated, two completely different cars. Both meet their intended audiences well - Hellcats are more suited for cruising, probably ride slightly better with the weight, and are more tailored to straight line acceleration. The corvette you already know about.

Mustangs and Corvettes aren't in the same league. Remember this.. Mustang owners like Corvettes, Corvette owners don't like mustangs... :P

The Hellcat is basically a fast brick. Its no surprise its unsteady at high speeds. I'd want one just to drive around town and cruise. It would be added to my garage, not a replacement for my Corvette.

I like the narrow body more also. The wide body looks like a cheap stick on kit. Some could say unnatural. - The Emperor
Anyone thinking Hellcat run the VIN past your Insurance agent. Found out after I sold my last Hellcat narrow body which was within dollars of my wife's NB 2016 car the wide body was about $200 more every 6 months. I am currently looking for a 2018 Demon which is basically identical to my 2018 but it only adds about $50 more every 6 months which I can live with but again was shocked that the wide body insurance was so much more, must have a higher theft and crash rate..........Our 2019 Grand Sport is almost $300 less every 6 months to insure than my current wide body cat FWIW.
