Default Upgrade recommendations please

I bought my 2019, 1LT, low optioned, low mileage Stingray in June of 2022 and have really enjoyed it for almost two years. Recently I’ve had the bug to upgrade to a C8 and I’ve found a nice 2021, 1LT, Z51, moderately optioned, low mileage (12k) Stingray with a clean CarFax. After going back and forth via email today they have offered it for my C7 and $23,500 out the door.
I’ve done some research on line and it looks like the prices of C8’s is, and has been dropping while the prices on C7’s has been pretty steady and is going up slightly recently.
is there something I don’t know about C8’s? Are they not popular or have they just been overpriced?
Opinions please.
Thanks
Ron

Now that the Z06, Eray, and soon ZR1 released, the prices on C8 stingrays have dropped like a 737 loosing all engines. Go for it!

If the C8 is anything like the C7, I would probably go for the 2LT. So I would look for a more equipped one, IMO.

A chevy service advisor told me to never buy a C8. He pointed to several bays occupied by C8s and only one C7, mine, getting the AC blending doors worked on.

He told me that the C8s are coming in for service with the weirdest quirks and they're having to learn about them more and more every day.

I wonder if that happens to every new generation till they figure out what the quirks are. I would ask the tech if he has been around the block for a couple of generations. I generally talk to the service advisor to book appointments only.

You can’t carry a 16” pizza home from takeout.
There isn’t a space in a C8 flat enough for one!

That is what the passenger is for? To balance it and not let the hot cheese drip?

Dealers are getting C8s for stock now and some even discounting them. People bought them for a novelty and got bored with them. Market is flooded with used C8s.

He said he's been at this dealership 14 years.

He claims the best Gen as far as service and dependability is the C6.

Because people who drank the Kool Aid finally woke up and looked in garage with intense remorse and exclaimed "Damn this thing is Fugly!" Then sell it and try to find a clean C7.. after driving a C8 or 2 I always have the song "The Thrill Is Gone Baby" in my head.. thank the stars above I have my C7

You don't have near enough information to determine if that is a good deal. NEVER ever use the delta on a trade in as your guide. Always negotiate the best price for the trade in separately from the best price for the car you are buying.

That is how dealers make lots of extra profit off you when they do what you are stating.

It's normal for cars to depreciate, so am not surprised that C8 prices go down. They make more every day.

The pool of available C7's is getting smaller, and many aren't getting used. I would still expect them to depreciate, but maybe there's something some interplay with no manual C8's that prevent some owners to 'upgrade'.
There are likely many C5-C6 buyers moving up to C7's.
And the C7's are still performance and reliability bargains in the RWD+MT niche.

What’s the asking price for the C8? I agree with vortech347 - negotiate your trade separate from the package price. Good luck and just make sure a 1LT equipped car is what you want.

Why do negotiate separate? I'm curious. They always ask me what I want to get for the trade. I usually say "I don't care." I just negotiate on the bottom line. "I want that and I have to give you this and a check. How big is the check?" and we negotiate that number. Just seeing if there is a reason for 2 negotiations.

Consider as I do; keep your current one when getting a new one.

That’s a great idea. All I need you to do is “donate” about $70k to my bank account and I’m good with it. 😜

If you think C8 prices are down, check the values of C7's. They have fallen off a cliff!

I didn’t think C7 prices were tanking as a whole.
Z06 cars are still in the mid to high 60s.
Down a little since C8 prices have dropped big time. Check Carmax.
The Stingray is low to mid 40s where it has been for a while.
The GS has taken the biggest hit. I suspect it is because it
is basically an overweight Stingray.
