2015 stereo replacement
And here's the big question: why would anybody want to change their factory modules to modules that come from an unknown source, whether they're refurbished or whatever the case may be?
All you get is the risk of having your car undrivable, spending way more money then required to get carplay, not having wireless CarPlay, HDMI, or extra camera inputs, and on top of that all. you are losing features in the car, including steering controls and other features.
Personally, I don't see any advantages in this product except that it costs more than real CarPlay integration. You lose features in the car that you could actually have with our actual CarPlay integration, and on top of that, it's not wireless CarPlay. And if you do go for wireless CarPlay with the dongle, you're essentially erasing everything you've done because now you're using the CarPlay through a cheap Chinese dongle that runs on Android, not the CarPlay the carplay inside the car that you just spent money on upgrading.
lets see what do we get after we spend 700+ you're putting modules in your car that came from an unidentified source, risking making your car undrivable, and on top of that, you're losing features.
I don't see any advantages to that upgrade, and as a professional who deals with CarPlay modules for a long time, I believe people should understand that this kind of upgrade will actually remove features from their car. Our upgrade keeps all the features in the car.
Just think about it—you're losing at least two features by installing these so-called replacement modules.
Keep selling the "Doom and Gloom" ..... ....lol lol 😆 😂🤣

If you still take your car to the dealer, you can ask any service writer in any dealership, and they will confirm that they've seen plenty of vehicles that were towed in after such upgrades.
It's important to use proven and safe methods and get an actual CarPlay add-on, such as modules produced by our company or the ones I see many forum members using, like NavTool.
Think about it: if this wasn't a problem, then this bulletin would not exist from NHTSA.

if you try to swap in say a BCM from a different car without programing to the car you are installing it , Yes you will get a can bus failure.......which could cause damage .
There are some modules that you can't reprogram , they are one and done modules that "marry" to the first car that they are installed in upon 1st start.
( you don't think GM actually programs every module in the car one by one now do u lol ) .
But there are other modules where you can reprogram the IC chips to have the required serial number they need to be able to communicate on the CANBUS . The HMI and Radio modules are two where this can be done ....I can also program any C7 ECM I want to work in any C7 I want to install it in.
Your doom and gloom message where everybody is going to die because someone swaps out a Programed Module from a reputable company who uses new modules and has sold thousands of these upgrades does not hold water ....
This is how False Internet Urban Ledgends are started .... help me stamp out these untruths 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

What I'm saying is, if you're guaranteeing to everybody that if they do those swaps nothing's going to happen to the car, then why does this bulletin exist? https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/20...29857-9999.pdf
A regular person who doesn't have access to diagnostic equipment will be stranded if the modules they receive are not programmed properly. The bulletin clearly states which modules should never be replaced, so what you're saying is not true if a regular person were to receive a module that isn't programmed properly.
If this wasn't the case, then the bulletin wouldn't exist. It clearly states that replacing the radio module will cause these issues.
Obviously, it's much easier to try to fix things when you have diagnostic equipment. But a regular person who received an upgrade that wasn't programmed properly, or was not necessarily new to begin with, will end up at the dealership on a tow truck.

Stop with the "why does the bulletin exist" , the bulletin exisists, because without the proper programming , YES U could have a problem !!!! . IT IS WIDELY KNOWN that modules are not plug and play , and it has been this way for a long time .... this is not new news ...... And it's not just a GM caution as other manufacturers use the same protocols
These companies that modify and sell HMI units for GM vehicles and many more have the expertise and the ablity to properly program these two modules , There is a company that does the same thing for Ford Vehicle's
The end of the world is not going to happen because a person replaces thier HMI module with an upgraded unit from one of these companies
Show me one example were the modules that these reputable companies sell had caused issue like you described?
I can show you 100's of posts, including myself that have exchanged modules without any issues .
You also state that these companies sell used modules , which is also untrue
So let's just STOP right here , you are entitled to your opinion and thats fine ....
But what you really need to do is have your facts straight before you start making posts like these because your statements above prove to me that you do not have the knowledge nore any facts /proof to make these statements or challange me on the programing and the operation of GM's comunications protocols ...

This guy should have been a used car salesman at a Buy Here Pay Here car lot. A much better career.
Then again, he may have been that once or twice.

But then, at the same time, we're faced with problem number two: with these module upgrades, people have reported, especially on this forum, that they have lost features in their car. Primarily, the steering wheel controls no longer control music inside CarPlay, NPP controls are lost, there's no wireless CarPlay, no HDMI input, and no camera inputs.
So now the question comes down to: what's the point of anyone who's reading this to get something that is more expensive with fewer features, and on top of that, it deletes features from the car?

Try to point the guy in the right direction, and yet he still continues to post the same unproven theory he has convinced himself is correct because of a few people stating that they "lost features"or untruths that they "might" use old junkyard modules , over and over and over .....
Not one mention of trying to find out how many were sold that had absolutly no loss of features or problems with install that were related to the hardware . Just a bunch of conspiracy theories lol lol 😆
Let's take a bet on how long it takes for him to reply to this post with the same answers lol lol

Or your engine could blow up , does that mean you will not drive the car
There is a the possibility that the starter you just bought to replace a faulty one might not work .....
My point is , your thougth process does not hold water
When upgading to these modules , what features that can be added and what features that you might loose is clear explained in the FAQ section on each site . There is nothing these companies are doing wrong , Not every C7 looses features , it just depends on what modules you have as to what limitations going down the upgrade path might cause
I am done commenting on your posts , please resist the urge to post again and save us the pain 😢 😭

Steering wheel controls
"This Chevy CarPlay and Android Auto Upgrade will bring some changes to how your Steering Wheel Controls act, WHEN and Only When plugged in and using CarPlay or Android Auto. When plugged in and using CarPlay or Android you will NOT be able to Activate Siri or Google Assistant via the Voice button on the steering wheel. There will be an icon on the touchscreen to activate either phones voice features, or you can simply say “Hey Siri” or “OK Google” and not touch anything. This also deactivates the voice button to answer phone calls, however there is an Answer and Hang-Up icon on the touchscreen when the call comes in. The back of wheel buttons will still work to raise and lower audio volume and track forward and backward on your music library, for iPhone. Android phones act differently and from what we’ve seen, most older Android loose those buttons all together, and we have seen a couple instances with the very newest Android phones. Each Android model acts differently and we have no control over which phones do what. Your steering wheel controls will function just like they do know when your phone is not plugged in and using the CarPlay or Android Auto interface. So, for example; If you get into your vehicle and just have your phone in your pocket or purse, or laying on the console; all of your steering wheel buttons will function as they do now.
There is a fix for the steering buttons for the Chevy CarPlay and Android Auto Upgrade, that consists of replacing the instrument gauge cluster (speedo, fuel, tach etc). This is not a cheap upgrade though, so if interested in retaining full functionality of the steering wheel controls, please message us using the chat feature in the lower right hand corner, and we’ll be happy to explain further."
There is also 15 minutes of tech-support :
"I understand this system should be installed by a professional and Mobile Video Integrations only allows up to 15 minutes of tech support (handled by TEXT Message Only) for troubleshooting purposes ONLY. I have read the Terms and Conditions and agree to these terms."
It's puzzling to need a disclaimer for a product that directly swaps one unit for another, especially when it's all from the same page that offers the CarPlay upgrade
I assume any risk(s) associated with the installation of this device and will not hold Mobile Video Integrations or Auto Spa Mobile Technologies liable for any damage that may occur to the vehicle due to product installation
Suddenly losing navigation unless you spend an additional $225 because you already have a navigation unit is quite surprising. In order to keep that functionality, you're required to spend an additional $225 to maintain your navigation because you need an iOS 6 unit, obviously.
Please note: If you currently have Factory NAV you will need to select the I06 option above or you will lose the Factory NAV all together. When upgrading to the Chevy CarPlay and Android Auto System you are changing out your existing NAV module and adding the newer module. This newer module did come with some minor changes to the navigation mapping look, so please make sure to read the notes regarding the newer mapping below.
- 1x 2014 - 2016 Chevrolet CarPlay and Android Auto Enabled Factory System
$899.00 - Please Select CarPlay System Needed - I06 CarPlay/Android Auto- WITH Factory NAV (Vehicle Currently Equipped with NAV)
$225.00 - Add Wireless Functionality - Add Apple CarPlay AND Android Auto – Wireless Dongle
$149.00 - Subtotal $1,273.00
You're telling me that somebody has to spend $1273 to get wireless Apple CarPlay through a Chinese wireless dongle because it won't be built-in wireless CarPlay. Instead, they'll be using CarPlay through a Chinese download that's connected to the USB. On top of that, they'll still, at the minimum, lose the proper controls of their steering wheel.
On the other hand, from us, for $500, they get Apple CarPlay with built-in wireless CarPlay, with all the steering wheel controls working properly, along with HDMI input and extra camera inputs.

They put one out for my car becaue I put a procharger on , they say it's not as reliable as OEM so I should not drive it ..... I live on the edge so I will take my chances

Nobody is saying that your product is not going to be any good , The jokes are being made about your Doom and Gloom story that if you change modules the world will end and you just keep repeating over and over and over ... then there is the fact that you are going to save us so much money .... show me the product you are selling
Here is a novel idea , bring your product to market, and if it's as great as you say it is ....you won't have to worry about what the competition is selling .... your product will sell itself and put them out of business , that's how it works over here
Until then ..... give it a rest will you .........

What's more, these companies put disclaimers on their websites saying they're not responsible for anything that happens. On our website, we don't have those kinds of disclaimers because our products won't mess with your car.
Even though they offer direct replacement modules, they still make you agree to a disclaimer that basically says they're not responsible if something goes wrong with your car. Think about it. Why is that disclaimer there? Just because some members got lucky doesn't mean it's a safe upgrade. Why else would they have that disclaimer on their site?
"I assume any risk(s) associated with the installation of this device and will not hold Mobile Video Integrations or Auto Spa Mobile Technologies liable for any damage that may occur to the vehicle due to product installation."
So you're buying a product with a disclaimer like that?

These guys are selling this product for self installation and they really do not know the proficiency of the installers.
Not everyone is going to install this product as instructed . So yeah, I'd put that disclaimer in there as well.
You see similar disclaimers on just about any car part sold for consumer installation especially when it is an electronic part.
Bottom line here is....... Put your product out there. Let us the consumers judge it. If it looks good, you would not have to worry about what anyone else is selling or buying. Your product will sell itself.
So far, you have failed to do so. Show us the product you speak of, or just go away. People are buying the best option available to them at the moment.

And what this message means to anyone who speaks English is that they are not responsible for any harm or damage caused to the vehicle as a result of installing the product.
We just want people on this forum to get that if this product isn't programmed right, no matter what else goes down, even if you put your factory modules back in the car, your car won't start anymore. Either way, you'll have to tow it to the dealer for a full reprogramming or maybe even replace some of the car modules. That's the gamble you're making by swapping out your factory modules.
Kinda wish DashLynx would leave this thread alone and allow viable solution to float to the top so I could learn what to buy for my application, for my 2014 Stingray.
