Default Lug Nut Security Socket

2019 stingray: What to use on subject socket. I have a 1/2” drive torque wrench. How do I mate this socket to the torque wrenc?

You should be able to match another socket to the end of that socket to tighten/loosen the locking lug. I swapped my locking lugs out a long time ago as the cars are usually to low for a thief to jack up to steal the tires/rims and i haven't heard of anyone getting their tires/rims stole in over 20 years now.

They stop you if you lose the key socket but do not stop a thief.
I took mine out a long time ago from any car I own.

There should be a socket that fits the key then you turn both together.
It's usually the key on one side and the lugnut size on the other.

I've never used locking lugs on anything. Let them take the insured tires and wheels, instead of destroying half the car trying to get them off with locking lugs.

There have been several threads about stolenC7 wheels posted here before. Here is one taking less than 1 minute: https://www.foxnews.com/video/6315392721112

As others have said, lug nut locks won't make much of a difference.

Yeah, locking lug nuts don't work but I bet this C8 owner wished he had a set. They may not stop the pro but it'll slow them down and hopefully they'll look elsewhere for a car that doesn't have any locks.

My locking lug nuts have the same sized socket ( 3/4") as the rest of the nuts....the 3/4" socket fits onto the end of the lug nut key

12 gauge locking lugs work best!

But seriously, almost all mechanics have a lucking lug removal socket, and all wheel thieves wouldn't be caught dead without one!

Our locksmith said "you don't need perfect locks, just better locks than your neighbor."

If our 'vette is parted outside overnight, it's usually near our hotel room. The locking lugs are not terribly difficult to defeat, but they require the two things that thieves hate- time and noise. Most wheel thieves are not highly motivated. I bought a spare key just in case the original gets misplaced.

Locking lugs remind me of a time the neighbor lost the key to his trailer hitch lock. He beat on it for 20 minutes and tried to cut it to no avail. I took a small cordless drill with a small bit and drilled where the key went in. I bet it wasn't 10 seconds and the lock just fell apart.,I bet there is a simple and easy way to defeat the locking lugs also.

This and a cordless impact. Years ago these lugs may have been worth something, but a 10 year old can order all the tools needed to steal wheels.

And every tech has a set for when the customer shows up and 'forgot' where their key is. ie: never to be found.
