Default Remove vinyl over lay

I have a vinyl over lay on the 3rd brake light that has deteriorated and I need to remove it before applying a new one. Any suggestions on how to remove it.
thanks

A few things that may help/work would be 50/50 alcohol, adhesive remover, or a heat gun. I would be very careful with the heat gun though. Try and start with some 50/50 alcohol and distilled water, that's what I have always used to remove adhesive or vinyl from cars.

Give it some heat, or let sit in sunlight, then pull off at 90 degree angel. Remove adhesive residue with adhesive remover then wipe down with rubbing alcohol.

I know when they just retinted my windows they used steam to loosen the glue. I would think moist heat would be best if possible

All of the above are good suggestions. You could also try some WD-40 on the overlay.

Heat gun and plastic is not a good combination. I ought to know and I thought I was being careful.
It bubbled the paint right off the rear bumper

Not the current car.

Heat from a hair drier will do the trick. You don't need much heat. It should become pliable and peel right off. Then clean with denatured alcohol. Done this many times...
