Welp, the 2019 Vert has died and gone Corvette heaven
Two weeks ago.
Unless someone decides to rebuild/resurrect it.
Was driving in the left lane, guy came over into my lane, destroyed the front right fender. The inertia pushed me onto a median where I took out some landscaping and plowed right through a huge village sign.
Fortunately no one was injured.
To be fair, I was driving kind of fast... But I never left my lane so my insurance company said I wasn't at fault since he came into my lane.
The end result was $22k worth of damage and a total loss. GEICO has been great and already paid me out.
On the plus side, I was able to pick up this 2017 hard top today. This one only has 18k miles on it. My 2019 had 53k. Even though this one is slightly older, it is waaaay cleaner. Just seems to drive better too. Helps it's a Z51.
Also of importance is that it's a 2lt and not a 3lt like the 2019. I was getting tired of playing whack a mole with the dash delamination, having to glue down sections.
Much happier with the red and black combo

I am glad you were not injured. It seems like the Big Guy was smiling down at you and it came out alright!
Enjoy your new ride. I certainly enjoy my Z51.

Great that there were no injuries and sorry about the damage to your car. Looks like you have found a very nice replacement. Best of luck with the new car.

I think it's better that they totaled it but at the same time, surprised they did. Unless the car was super high mileage and had other issues, $22k of damage is less than half of what I'd expect a 2019 3LT Convertible to sell for
The important thing....glad you weren't hurt and are happy with the replacement

Even though your car was a 2019, it is still a C7, and they have been out of production for about 5 years. Some parts may already be hard to get new from GM. I personally know some C7 interior parts are on national backorder with no eta given by GM -- which probably means never.

With the way getting parts are nowadays, repairing it is a super long painful process. You’re lucky they totaled it. Aperture panels have been out of stock since 2022. GM does not want their cars fixed. They want you to buy their new overpriced vehicles. it took 10 months of hounding Hendrick collision, to include me having to find a used aperture panel, to get mine back on the road. I’m happy for you.

Glad you are ok. Worked out well. With parts shortage who knows how long it would take to repair.

Maybe the insurance company knows how hard it is to get parts for these cars and knows that $22K is just the amount of money, not the time it would take to complete the repair.

No, the jackass (me) using the jack caused it. It slipped off when I was jacking it up. I thinks something got in the way of the jack wheel preventing the jack from rolling under the car as it got higher. I don’t think it helped having the plywood on the jack pad either since the aluminum frame puck can slip easily on the wood. I use a quick jack system now and replaced the plywood on my jack with a rubber pad.

After looking at pictures of minimal wrecked cars on our site.
Its amazing how little apparent damage there is and the cars are totaled.
Sad.
Years ago this would not have been the case, guess I'm just getting old.
