Am I the only one who, with a slight glance and their peripheral vision, think there's a cop behind you because of the blue OnStar icon on the rearview mirror?
It drives me nuts. I'm thinking of putting a piece of black tape or sticker over it.
To quote 'Franco' from the Gumball Rally movie: "What'sa behinda me, is not important" Honestly, I've never really noticed it.... but I probably will now!!! Thanks a LOT!
One of these days though I have to find out how to shut the OnStar "announcement" off when the car is started......
It is very common feeling. Black tape is fine. Actually, I think I found some precut stuff on amazon that was made to specifically darken it without totally blocking it. So for me, that was better than the black tape.
Eventually, the OnStar trial ended and I was not going to pay for their overpriced service and I replace the mirror with a Camaro/C8 mirror and rear camera.
I have had that feeling a time or two, I just really want to know who thought it was a good idea to put that stupid blue button right where my thumb naturally goes every time I need to adjust the rear view mirror??
Probably was some input from ON STAR, hoping to get additional business from folks mistakenly pressing the button.
I guess I'm blessed. I have always thought that it's on after you start the car, but after a little while the three lights on the mirror turn off. Don't they turn off? Now I have to check
I don't even notice it and to adjust the mirror I don't put my fingers on the glass.
That is always my plan, do not touch the glass, because if you do, now you have to clean it, but inevitable my thumb does not get the message and down on to the blue button it goes.
The onstar mirror doesnt bother me. But I use these on my audio stuff for my movie room. You can still see a bit of light but not enough to rattle your attention.

It only happened one time with me. Now I go so fast I know a cop can't be back there.
yeah had the same thought when I first started driving it 3 years ago and still comes up from time to time.
glad i wasnt the only one.
never bothered me enough to try to do something about it though.
