Default Need some advice.

I never really struggled with this before when I bought something I knew how I wanted to customize it and what mods I wanted to do right away.

With my C7 I'm struggling to figure out what I want ro do to it or add. I know I want to add a supercharger which i am saving up to do and i changed the grill to the z06 style. But out side of that im struggling to find stuff I want to do. I'm always worried that exterior parts will look cheep and flimsy and I dont know what mods I should do to then engine based on the path I want to go .

I have a 2014 z51 I wish I had held out for a z06 but I didn't want to finance the car and I was able to pay cash for this one.

Not to sound disingenuous, but I believe you've answered your own question.

If you want to add power and other modifications to a Corvette, and at the same time regret a bit that you are not in a Z06, wouldn't it be better to be in the Z06.

If you heart is with the Z06, save the money for one and then modify it as you desire. I'm sure you'll be much happier in the end.

Best of luck moving forward..

Got to agree - sounds like going with a Z06 would be the answer to your situation.

Z06 is little tight in my garage space. So, in my Z51, I put on 416CID and SC on top of it. It can fit my garage and more power than Z06 (almost ZR1) now

Is that a way you wanna go to?

Enjoy your Stingray until you save enough to upgrade to a Z06. The Z51 Stingray is a great and fun car.

Dont spend all the money on the C7 Z51 Stingray to make it faster and look like a Z06 you will never recoup that money spent. Instead sell it outright or trade it in for a C7 Z06 when youre ready as then you will be completely satisfied! Good Luck!

Let me be one to offer you kudos for buying what you can actually afford! Trust me, there is absolutely nothing wrong with that, even though as a long-time Salt Flats racer of boosted cars I'm not a fan of "bolt-on" blowers. You can continue doing as you can afford. There are other routes than super/turbocharging for more power and I would suggest you consider those, unless you intend to build your motor from the crank up. You can have more power and not break the bank... or your engine if you treat it with a modicum of respect. All the best! And, enjoy.

I was in the same boat when I was looking last year. I was fortunate to have cash to buy a 1LT after the sale of another car, and that's what I bought. I couldn't justify the extra 25k+ for a Z06 since it was a want and not a need. Yes, I could have borrowed from my savings or a bank, but why? I can live with <500hp, especially on the city streets I frequent. I really don't mind being just another Corvette especially since it is paid for. Do I want a Z06? Heck yeah, but it certainly didn't need to be my first Corvette. I say enjoy the car like you have already stated you will. There may be a Z06 in the future for both of us.

I bought my 2017 Stingray after trying to find a Grand Sport in the price range I set. Couldn't find one and this Stingray was super low mileage, M7 and some other cool options. I am quite happy with it and think less and less about the GS or even a Z06. I did upgrade the grill to a Z06 style grill and it looks great. Also installed a Soler Throttle body. Two easy mods and the car is awesome now. I agree with others, enjoy it as is and when the time is right, mike the leap if you want.
