Default Offset Cable ties - PSA

Rather than toss this in the "What have you done to your C7" thread, I'm creating its own thread in case someone does a search in the future.

There are a few places on the car where offset cable ties are used to secure wire bundles. I discovered one on the driver's side of the engine that secures the HO2S bundles was broken off....I suspect from when the un-named shop removed the engine since that's the only reason that cable tie would need to be touched. I need to check the other side later today. Every time I think I've found all the fk-ups / broken clips/connectors I seem to find another. The good news is that all the obvious ones are certainly taken care of. Anything I find now is certainly within the depths of the car and likely not critical since the car has been on-track quite a bit

Why offset cable ties? Well....to keep the wire bundles secure yet away from the heat. The one I'm replacing attaches to the engine block near the exhaust. With the 25mm offset, it gives enough of an air gap to help with component longevity.

The factory offset cable ties are made by Hellerman Tyton. You can buy them but the min buy is a bag of 500 I found one place that would sell them loose for $0.40 each. I was briefly happy until I went to check out and the shipping charge was $96 Obviously the target buyer is companies that use these in their products and not an individual!

After a bit more looking, it turns out that there is an alternative and I purchased what I needed from Mouser. I picked up a handful of a couple part numbers and shipping was $8. Still high for an order that weighs in the single digit ounces range, but it is what it is

Here's the alternative company....

Good solution those offset cable ties are typically HellermannTyton stand offs used to keep wiring spaced off hot areas like the engine block and exhaust OEM parts are usually only sold in bulk so sourcing them through Mouser is one of the few practical ways to get small quantities without crazy minimum orders or pricing
