I had my 2019 C7 in a car show yesterday and upon leaving I saw a 4 inch long crack in windshield. I must of had a small rock chip just under the passenger side wiper and sitting in the heat must have cause it to spread. When cleaning the car I never noticed a chip. Can the crack be fixed to prevent it from getting bigger (longer). I plan to head to glass shop tomorrow.
Need to clarify. Car was in 90 degree heat sitting on asphalt lot with windows up. Think I may have had small rock chip under wiper blade and the heat caused chip to run.
I have seen where they drilled small hole at end of run to strop spread.
My understanding is that any crack that is longer than the width of a quarter is not repairable, but that might be old information. A 4 inch crack is a lot.
I had ordered a C7 with HUD from CarMax right before the car that I actually bought.
It arrived with a cracked windshield. They had it replaced before I even looked at the car. It was done right and it looked great. Pilkington HUD glass is what they used.
Liked the new glass but the car was rough. I moved on to the one I own now, also from CarMax.

What are the odds? I have the same exact thing in the same spot! Barely noticeable and just below the wiper arm. Almost under the wiper blade. Hasn’t grown as far as I can tell. My OCD has me debating having the windshield replaced. Don’t like the imperfection but also don’t want to invite other potential problems. Will be content to live with it for now. The nick caused by the stone is barely perceptible. At a loss how it could have struck the window in that location.

Chips larger than a quarter, cracks longer than 3 inches cannot be repaired. Safelite says cracks less than 6 inches.
Darn the luck... Windshield can't be fixed. My comp. insurance has $500 deductible new windshield for 2019 with HUD is $649.at Safelite. I assume that the windshield is the same as the OEM.

I am getting a shop that does all three GM dealers glass work. Specializes in corvettes in our area. Rather use a local than a chain and really don't trust Safelite. The shop explained all about the differences in GM and aftermarket glass and HUD and rain sensing. Said he wanted 4 hours to do the job right.

I've used Safelite before. I've seen them put glass on my MBs and they have the same process outlined in the MB service manual. It was the same for my C4, my friend with a Mustang, C5 and C6 and an assortment of cars I got to watch when they discovered the glass had an issue and I had to wait while they got another one from a different shop. From what someone here explained a bit ago, the glass they use, as long as it is a "Tier 1" source is OEM although I had an issue with one of the Safelite pieces and the rain sensor in one of my MBs. So what makes him a Corvette Specialist in glass work?
Yes, but you'll be able to see the crack and line,
In my case there is barely any crack at all. Just a thin horizontal line about the width of a strand of hair in the lower darkened area of the glass just below the wiper blade. Maybe 3 or 4” long. It propagated from a tiny speck of what I surmise was a stone hit. So far, no distraction at all. You really have to be looking for it. Thus my reluctance to mess with it. Just hoping it doesn’t get any worse.
