I believe the automatic shifts at the same RPM in either car, but the automatic Z51 has a higher (numerical) rear axle than the base car and so the shifts come at a lower mph. This probably improves the acceleration times, and definitely makes the car feel a bit "livelier".
Since I'm a shiftless guy, I don't know how it works out for the stick.
IIR, the gear ratios are numerically lower for the Z51 than the base. I don't recall the ratios at each gear, but having owned both a base manual and a Z51 manual, I can attest to the Z51 having a lower ratio in at least 1st and probably second.
Here's a link to an article that charts the gear ratios for Both the manual and the auto. https://www.motortrend.com/news/1601-a-quick-look-at-the-corvettes-7-speed-triple-overdrive-transmission/

Makes sense since the Z51 is more performance driving oriented.
