If I start my car and start driving with in a minute, the very first up shift is jerky, it’s a 2017 with an automatic transmission, after that initial shift it doesn’t do it again, any advice would help greatly, thanks

Let it warm up first? My manual is a little tough too, until the fluids warm up.
That’s a problem many have experienced with the A8 transmission. Apparently there’s a component in the transmission called the valve body that has an O ring that is leaking or not holding pressure or fluid or something like that. It’s annoying and really gets one’s attention on that first shift! 😱 Can be minimized by using the paddle shifters for the first couple of shifts. Don’t know if continuing with the problem will lead to further issues. I’m sure others with a better understanding will chime in with advice.

I'm told that the valve body problem is not very common but is important. The minor lurch on the first shift of the day has a different cause and is not so significant.
Hopefully, an A8 expert will straighten us out.
On our 2016 A51, I manually shift it to 2nd going down our 200 foot driveway. Put it back in automatic when pulling into the street. Tends to improve that first shift so it doesn't bother me.
After backing out of my driveway I shift into Manual mode and padel-shift 1st to 2nd and drive until I get to the stop sign at the end of my street (about 50 yards). I then shift into Drive and this eliminates the 1st to 2nd hard shift problem on my C7 A8.
