My 2017 coupe (1st C7), rides rough in every suspension setting. Here are the options Any thoughts?

How do you define rough? Drive it on a newly paved road, is it still rough? How many miles?

Tire pressure 30 psi cold. Drive mode set to Tour.

This is a sports car, not a Cadillac, but should be comfortable.

New tires, properly inflated. Triple Flush done and corrected the “rumble strip” effect, AFM disabled as well. I’ve had multiple C5’s and C6’s for the last twenty two years and this one rides rougher than any other Corvette I’ve had over the slightest ripple in the road. Just wondering if anyone else is experiencing this.

Was there not a dealer software update on the selective ride?

I don't have this option on mine and it rides like a sports car should.

Have you checked any parts? Stuff like.....Are any of the shocks excessively damp? How do the sway bar bushings look? Have the end links been checked for play? Has the car been in any accidents? Was the MRC update done? Any modifications? Are there any warning lights on for the ride control? Have the wheel bearings been checked for play? Tie rod ends checked for play? How are the ball joints? Do you have a DSC controller installed with all modes programmed to "Track"? Any banging noises that sound suspension related?

All of the above can contribute to a poor ride.

"Got new tires, ride sucks" doesn't move the diagnostic needle

I noticed MSRP for MRC on your car was $3500 not the standard $1795.
Not sure but a base Corvette could have a different suspension with MRC.

I run 27 psi cold and switched to non run flat tires which helped smooth things out. Also many folks suggest the DSC suspension controller for the MRC to add adjustability and soften the ride further.

Perhaps an alignment may be due or could help things a bit? The C7 has rear caster that needs to be set properly to ride correctly. Not any shop can do this so make sure before you drop the car off.

Hope you get her dialed in!

What brand and type of new tires do you have? Run flats?

New asphalt is always the smoothest / quietest and concrete w/expansion joints can be very rough. I was fine with my 2014 Z51 w/mag ride in Tour on bad roads, but Sport could rattle fillings. IIRC the updated calibration did not affect Tour much. I did not update...

Same ride comments with 2019 GS that came with the updated calibration.

Curious, did MSRC C7s ship with shock stuffers installed? If so, it it possible the dealer that prep'd the car neglected to remove them?

Good point! As I recall, yes they did. It would seem odd after all these years to still be there, but crazier things have happened

A non-Z51 with mag ride should be pretty smooth in Touring mode on a decent road. If you can't tell the difference between Track and Tour mode, something is wrong.

There have been some MRC leaky shock found by others. A quick undercarriage inspection of the shocks can verify the quality of the seals.

Our 2017 Z51 came with Mag Ride, and it was awful. Stiffer than any of our three previous Corvettes with Z51 and no Mag Ride. I actually considered trading down to a C6 Z51 like we had before. Bur when the Mag Ride update came out, I tried spending a few hundred bucks on that, and the improvement was spectacular. For our 2017, the update improves only Tour and Sport, so Track is still brutal. But in Tour and Sport, the ride and the handling have both improved. We love it!

I will make an appointment to have this done. Fortunately I’m close to VanBortel Chevrolet in Macedon NY where they know Corvettes.

Curious - did you go look if the shock stuffers are still there?

Yep, there should be a huge difference between tour, sport and track.

I wonder if the previous owner changed springs, say for autocross? With Z06 Z07 springs the car would still ride stiff in tour mode.
