Our 2016 Z51 received the MRC update in September, 2019. Since it was 5 years ago I can't remember the exact difference although I was OK with the cost. In other words, I don't believe money was spent with no change. Sorry for not remembering more details.
I had the mag ride upgrade right after I bought our C7 earlier this year. I can’t give you a before and after report.
I did the research on this forum. Lots of good information from Jeff V. and Bill Dearborn.
After all the research from this forum and other sites, I only saw one post that said it didn’t make a difference. Every other post said it was a good upgrade. Based on all the reports, I got the upgrade.
I found not many dealerships know about the upgrade. And quite a few want to charge more than the $350 GM says to charge for the calibration.
I believe you can go to a GM dealer service dept and ask them to run a service record (GMVMS?) on your VIN. The report should list the update if it was installed. As far as a difference, I drove a 2017 GS (no update) prior to buying my 19 GS (came with the update) and there was a noticeable difference, at least to me, between the two, especially in Tour and Sport modes. Good luck
@Bill Dearborn found another way to view it.. I was finally able to create an account after 15 different password tries.. I have to try the link at home and see if it works..
Prior to the update, the ride quality in tour & sport modes felt virtually the same....crappy.
After the update, the car rides extremely smooth in tour mode, while still maintaining excellent handling. It's slightly "floaty", but more than acceptable 95% of the driving that I do. With run-flat tires, the ride is much improved, but still a little bit harsh over sharp bumps & cracks in the road. With non-run-flat tires, the car nicely absorbs the bumps & cracks so that they are barely noticeable.
In sport mode, the ride was also greatly improved. Handling is crisp, and the car stays planted & balanced when pushing it hard in the turns. As you would expect, the ride is a bit more firm than tour mode.
There is now much more of a difference in feel between tour & sport modes; especially when you're driving agressively.
I believe that I paid $350 at the dealer for the update. It's well worth it, if you care about how your car rides.

I noticed a huge positive difference in handling on the way back from the Dealer! The upgrade only effects Touring and Sport Mode.
I think that depends on what year/model you have, our 2017 Z51 the update was only on Tour and Sport but I'm told other C7's it may also improve Track.
