Jacking Question
I'm getting ready to replace the front brake pads on my Z51. I prefer to jack up one side at a time using pucks. My question is, how far should I turn the wheel before jacking so that I can still remove the wheel and also have easy access to the back of the caliper?

I thought you can swap pads without removing the caliper?

You'll be fine not turning the wheel at all, there's plenty of room. Even a small amount of turn would probably be helpful, but not necessary.

If you haven't already purchased new pads, I'd recommend PowerStop Z26s. I have them on our 2015 Z51 and brake pad dust on the wheels is almost zero.
And like has been mentioned, lots of room to access the back of the calipers.

I respectfully disagree. Worst pads I have ever owned. They stopped dust almost 100%, I will give you that. As for performance, they are trash. Company doesn't even provide cold performance data, at least they didn't when I researched it years ago. I had them on my car for about a week until I had to do an emergency stop with the brakes cold, never again. They were pulled off the next day.

Interesting. My initial (and still) reaction when they were installed was that they felt as good as the OEM pads.

Some may disagree but when I swap tires I jack up from the front so both tires lift off the ground. Then use jack stands front and back before getting to work.

Just to clarify…..When you say from the front, are you saying you lift from the front side rail until both tires on that side are off the ground, or from the front end cross beam location until both front tires are off the ground?

Not difficult to change out the pads at all.

Make a pair of these. The pins go in where the jacking pucks go. I cut rounds out of conveyor belt. Use a floor jack a little from the end of these and you can place blocks under these at the pin locations.
