Default ATF Fluid for Quick Jack

Getting ready to assemble my new Quick Jack 5000TL. (It’s still in the boxes) Want to be sure I have everything I need. For those in the know, how much ATF fluid is required? Also, I seem to recall reading somewhere that I’ll need some Teflon pipe tape. Is that correct? Will anything else be required? I’m very anxious to get this thing together. Thanks.

I don't remember the exact amount, but it wasn't a lot. Maybe a quart or less? Does it come with a bottle (I thought mine did) of fluid? And yes, you'll need some teflon tape too.

As I recall, QJ included a small roll of special yellow Teflon tape that is a bit thicker than regular tape the plumbers use. But this was quite a few years ago.

I don't recall how much fluid it consumed. I had a partial gallon of ATF and there was still left over after I filled it. I am going to guess a couple quarts?

Thanks guys. I’ll be opening the boxes soon. Couldn’t find anything on the outside of them that answered my questions. Just wanted to make sure I had everything I needed before starting. Nothing more frustrating than starting to assemble something and finding out you don’t have everything. Hope the boxes contain the fluid and tape, but if not, I’ll be ready anyway.

I went with hydraulic fluid, rather than ATF. As shown above, both are acceptable.

One issue I recall was that the included thread locker product wasn't worth the tube in which it came. YMMV but, if you want to save potential hassle and mess, just start with

Wow. Thanks zcarmaniac! That’s very kind of you to go to the bother of posting all that. Those instructions look so easy that even this caveman can do it. Really puts my mind at ease. Hope the rest is as clearly explained and detailed.

After you assemble it add some wheels, makes moving it into position easier.

Add wheels where? I'm curious how you made this work. Mine has wheels on it roll around while you're holding one side up but once you lay it down flat it's a pain to move.

I thought the 5000TL does not fit? When I measured it was too short.

I've got the 7000TL and it fits, but it's borderline to long for the C7 based on where the windows for the rubber blocks fit, but it does work.

Says it has a lift point “spread” of 37” to 60”. Total length of the base is 70”. But to be sure, is anyone else using the 5000TL to lift their C7? Does the spread on the lifting blocks accommodate it OK? Really need an answer to this BEFORE I open up the boxes to start my assembly. I was under the impression that 5000TL would work fine before I ordered mine. Now I’m starting to wonder. Will be easier to return if necessary with all 3 boxes still sealed.

edited info….. I just went and measured the distance between the lift puck holes on the car and it looks like they are 39” apart. So I’m assuming the 5000TL should work fine. Would still appreciate confirmation though by any current users.

Default My QJ 5000 SLX

I used slightly over 2 quarts synthetic ATF fluid to fill mine (purchased separately). Just follow the directions in the supplied manual to assemble. My QJ came with a tube of thread locker—I tried it and my QJ leaked. Plus, it’s very caustic and hard to remove from fingers and other items. Therefore, I recommend that you toss it out and purchase the tape.

Otherwise, I love my QJ! One word of caution—I attempted to store mine underneath my Vette and did not have room. It’s a ‘15 Z51 Coupe at stock ride height with a flat level garage floor and it got hung up somewhere underneath. So now it’s stored underneath my ‘14 Challenger RT.
