I got my flooded c7 2014 completely fine except 1 thing. I've been driving it and runs great everything works. My display says theft lock. I did replace module behind bcm. Took it to dealer today they said they can't reprogram and I need new display. Only issue is display says theft lock. My rear camera works. All heater controls. Is there anyway to get around without buying a whole new display?
If it has been flooded, I doubt that there is a "built-in" fix since flooding can produce so many different sources of error. Even my experience with flood vehicles back in the days-of-yore suggested that ongoing problems could have a variety of sources. I'd recommend if you want the issue fixed and are sure the noted part will do so, just replace it and go on. Or, simply pretend the offensive message (as that seems to be the main issue) is not there and after a while you may start to ignore it. All the best in any event.
My thinking is that if the display says that, then the display is working.
I would think the radio module or the HMI, or both would throw the theft lock and not the display. If the display was bad, then the back up camera would not work.
Get a second opinion. I think your radio modules are fried and not the display.
You can get replacements for those already programmed to your VIN, plug and play, and while at it add Apple Car Play and Android Auto for about $1100.
If you replaced the radio module, and that's what's behind the BCM, assuming with a used one, then of course you'll get a theft lock, this module is married to another VIN.
Not sure if the dealer can remarry this module to another VIN, but some aftermarket sellers can.
Message these guys. They may be able to help with a radio module even if you don't upgrade.
They are great to reply to messages. They typically don't answer their phone. Good guys otherwise.
Thank you.. ya dealer wanted to sell me a new display. Hmi and radio. I found a company that will vin match a radio module so that should do me. Thank you
I once left my van down at the marina overnight. I didn't know it at the time, but the river was suddenly rising. By the time I got to the van it was in about 3 feet of water. It was a ford E350 so it is higher than standard vans. I was able to get in, get it started and drive it to high ground. I thought I got lucky and all was well. Approximately 3 months later I started getting check engine light faults. Checked the codes and there were about 4 faults, 3 with transmission sensor module faults and 1 with an engine sensor. All of the sensors were in the water. Eventually I was able to replace all of the defective parts and everything went back to normal.
Moral of this story. You might have more issues that show up after a while.
